Luxury is not in the words, but in the experience. At the Waldorf Astoria Cairo, Egypt, this sentiment is not fully realized. The check-in process was efficient and welcoming, with front desk staff member Ahmed Sherif providing a professional and warm reception. The orientation by Ahmed Sadek was also highly commendable. However, the overall room experience did not live up to the luxury brand's reputation. While the rooms were spacious, the decor and furnishings were merely ordinary, lacking the premium quality one would expect. This shortcoming may become more apparent as the hotel ages, as it may not compare favorably to other luxury hotels in Egypt. Another technological shortcoming was the lack of smart TV capabilities, requiring the use of an HD cable to access streaming services - an underwhelming feature for a hotel in this category. The dining experience was a particular let-down. The breakfast setting and service did not meet the standards of a luxury property, with a clear shortfall in training and development. The food quality was inconsistent, with only a few items on the limited pool bar menu standing out, such as the chicken satay and Angus beef burger. The pool area also fell short, with visible flaking and water clarity issues, despite the hotel's recent renovations. However, the outstanding service provided by Menham Ahmed during the stay made the pool experience more enjoyable. Overall, the Waldorf Astoria Egypt needs to focus on improving the consistency of its service and product quality to align with the expectations of its luxury brand. Addressing technological shortcomings and elevating the culinary offerings would also enhance the value proposition for guests. A single misstep or subpar interaction can significantly impact the overall guest experience. The Waldorf Astoria Egypt should strive to cultivate a true sense of luxury and exclusivity across all aspects of the operation to justify premium rates. Lastly, the hotel staff should refrain from constantly reminding guests that this is a 'luxury' establishment. Clients are already paying a premium price for the privilege of staying at a luxury property, and they are well aware of this. The hotel needs to ensure its staff truly understand the essence of luxury hospitality, rather than simply throwing around the term without delivering the corresponding experience.

The candidates for best hotel in Cairo are possibly St.Regis, Ritz Carlton, Four Seasons, and now the newly built Waldorf Astoria. I have stayed at 3/4 of them, I am only missing FS but I heard from trusted sources that it's quite aging by now so it's unlikely to be considered best in the city. For the other three I believe WA is the best hotel in Cairo when all things considered. As Hilton Lifetime Diamond I was upgraded to a suite upon check-in and the quality of the hardware is superb, it is much superior to the suite I had at St.Regis and also newer than the suite I stayed in at Ritz Carlton. Service during my stay at WA was very good as well with various staff addressing me by name throughout the hotel particularly in the restaurant. The breakfast menu and buffet were both excellent and on par for the WA hotel brand. This hotel also has a pay-for-access lounge but because the price is per room not per person, I thought it would be better for me to try it on a future trip when travelling with family rather than on this stay where I was alone. The one negative about this hotel is not even something that I experienced myself, but I would note that if my room assignment had been for one of the rooms overlooking the hotel atrium and inner court, I might not have appreciated as much as rooms looking outside, so in that regard the design of the hotel might not be optimal but I would need to see for myself if I happen to be assigned one of those rooms one day. Nonetheless it will not prevent me from returning to this thoroughly enjoyable hotel and I can highly recommend it for people looking for the best hotel experience in Cairo.

Everyone was fabulous. I am so grateful for the amazing team that took care of us the whole time. What delicious food, amazing amenities, and everything was 10 over 10. I am a Hilton Honour's Diamond member, and this is the first hotel in my all stays that attracts me, like this competitive to other hotels internationally. Thanks, Waldrofastoria Cairo Heliopolis, for this unforgettable experience. A special thank you to those names for their efforts and for their wonderful quality of service. We (three Brits) went for afternoon tea yesterday. The service and presentation were excellent. On arrival we were escorted to our table then we were assisted by the lovely Nourhan. When the afternoon tea arrived, the chef came and explained everything. Nourhan/Noha was just amazing. Nothing was too much trouble. She served us constantly, keeping an eye on us to see if we needed more tea, the next serving, etc. A wonderful experience and the food was excellent, lots of variety. Moreover, despite our extremely hearty appetites we couldn't finish everything. Our only suggestion is strawberry jam with the scones, please. Money and time well spent. Highly recommended. Hope to return soon.

We stayed just one night and chose the property for its convenience to the airport but thoroughly enjoyed our short time there. Beautiful room, nice restaurant and surprisingly delicious and creative craft cocktails at the bar (which are hard to come by in Egypt!).

Completely inexperienced and argumentative staff. Ended our Egypt trip coming here thinking it would be an oasis and it ended up being one unpleasant surprise after another. Surprise 1: Being the only couple in the restaurant for lunch and having a large beer bottle dropped, shattering on the floor at our feet and hitting our legs. This wasn’t the surprise. Instead of getting the waitress to clean up the mess, the manager publicly berated the waitress in front of us, to the point she was crying. Instead of the manager rectifying the situation with us (move to another table etc) he forced the waitress to apologize to us, without feet still covered in broken glass Surprise 2: No price list of room service items. We ordered a bottle of wine for our anniversary, called downstairs, and were told there were 2 options for white wine. What they failed to mention was that both bottles were priced at $350, that retail for around $20 anywhere else in the world . After having it opened delivered, then doing the math $20->$350 called back downstairs and was told it was our fault and that’s it. Spent an hour fighting with multiple managers to have the charge reversed. Upon checking out the following day, had to go through the whole combative experience again to have the charge reversed. Not what I would expect from the Waldorf
