Hub Porteño

Have never written a negative review before. I tried to get a remedy with management and they did not understand my feelings nor seemed to really care. Our toilet was barely flushing. I asked for it to be fixed. Was gone all day and returned at midnight from a tango show. I checked with front desk and they said they could not fix it. Discovered upon returning to room that toilet did not flush at all now. They made situation worse! Offered to give us a different room but it was after midnight now and we had an early flight that morning and it would take too long to pack everything up and move. Asked for access to a toilet close to our room. Felt like I was in a youth hostel walking down the hallway when we needed to use bathroom but there wasn't a better choice at this time. Requested a small discount for our stay and was rejected. Message was basically sorry for the inconvenience, and it was my fault we did not move rooms. I consider a working toilet an important part of any hotel room. This overshadowed anything positive I would normally share.

We had a fantastic time staying at Hub Porteno for 3 nights in January 2025. It is a small boutique hotel in a very nice area of the city - we felt very safe walking around at night. The staff were friendly and attentive throughout our stay. Belen and the team were always available on the desk and on Whatsapp and helped us with a number of queries and with booking trips. The room was very large and comfortable. Breakfast is served in the bar / lobby area rather than the restaurant, and the choice is more limited than larger hotels, but all still delicous. We didn't eat at the restaurant for dinner, but it has good google reviews (Lime Estilo Nikkei). We would both recommend this hotel and would stay there again.

We stayed at the Hub Porteno Hotel during the fourth and final leg of our South American vacation. The experience was decidedly mixed. One the plus side, the staff was very friendly and got us checked in quickly. In addition, the location in Recoleta is very nice and the street was fairly quiet. Our room and bathroom were huge--much bigger than I would have expected in such an urban setting. (NOTE... we were told at check-in that the jetted tub in our room did not work. We didn't care; there was not going to be time to use it.) Unfortunately, the air conditioning in our room also did NOT work. The wall mounted unit looked old and beaten up. It essentially did nothing. There was also a thermostat in the room. It also seemed to do nothing. The first night, it was about 78 degrees in the room, and it did NOT cool down until about 5 am. It was extremely uncomfortable. We didn't say anything the next day, because we assumed that we'd done something wrong. The next evening, it was even warmer in the room. We stopped at the desk and told them that AC was not working. This did NOT seem to be a surprise. There were NO questions about the room temperature; NO questions about how we set the wall unit or the thermostat; and NO questions about the previous night. Instead, the woman made some half-hearted comment like, "well, only one system is working" and "we'll take a look." Of course, nothing was done. The second night was worse. The breakfast at this hotel was the worst that we experienced during the trip. There was food set out on the bar, but it was odd assortment of things. You could also order from a small menu. I did. It was fine, but you had little idea what to expect. I ended up with huge fruit plate that I could not finish. The setting was also awkward. we were eating at little, high-top cocktail tables in bar which were uncomfortable at best. We loved Buenos Aires, but were not sad to leave this hotel. We would NOT stay here again. It was probably nice at one time, but it's not being properly maintained.
