Convenient location, great free parking. Gemma (I hope I have her name correct), who was checking customers in at the front desk deserves a medal for single handedly helping everyone while her colleague sat in the office and left her to deal with an extremely busy sold-out check-in period by herself, while the computer system was down. We had a hot shower, and a clean bed (when we finally got into a room) but unfortunately that is where the positives end. After being unable to check-in at 3pm when we arrived due to the failure in the computer systems (this is just one of those things, technical failure, nobody’s fault). We tried again after a 20minute wait, as suggested by the staff, only to be told again we couldn’t check-in. So after two failed attempts at check-in over a 40minute period, and plans to be somewhere else by a certain time, we agreed with the front desk we would just check-in upon our return to the sold-out hotel that night, leaving our bags with them for safe keeping. Our return to the hotel ended up being at around 11:30pm-midnight, and we were so relieved to finally get into a room, however the relief was short lived. Not only did the room REEK of smoke, with a window we were unable to open for some fresh air, but the door wouldn’t lock from the inside, the bathroom tiles and bath mat were grubby, and the carpet around the bed were adorned with stains and what looked like burnt patches. Plus, despite the booking being for a double room, there were only one set of towels. Plus we had paid £80+ for the privilege of this ’Premier Inn’ room that we only had access to for half of a night, and couldn’t wait to get out of there in the morning.
