On Monday 21st October, We checked into the Ferndale for 4 nights throught breaks2go. Our trip included return coach, 4 nights DBB & a travel pass to use in Blackpool. We arrived at the hotel at approx 1355pm & We had been allocated Room 1. The owner Paul, showed us to our room. The room itself was a small double with en suite. On entering the room, Paul apologised for the scuffed paintwork on a boxed in area next to the bed, explaining it was a boiler & had recently had work done on it. The room had a wardrobe, 2 bedside cabinets & a small TV plus tea/coffee facilities. At around 6am on Tuesday Morning, We were woken up by very loud noises coming from the "boiler" sounding like water building up then an engine starting. We hoped it was just a one off but it happened again on Wednesday morning. We'd popped to reception on Wednesday afternoon to request a change to one of our breakfasts for the following day, the young lady on reception asked if everything had been OK so I mentioned the "boiler" She said I should have told them Tuesday as they had plenty of spare rooms & could move us, I said that would be appreciated if they could. She said to pop & speak to Paul who was next door doing DIY. I approached Paul, explained what the issue was & that I'd spoken to reception, his reply was "in 30yrs, we've never had any complaints about your room", I was taken aback by this, I felt it implied I was lieing. He came upstairs & opened the cupboard door to reveal a water tank & said it "doesn't make noises". Paul them decided to run up & down the stairs, turning on various showers & flushing toilets but the noise didn't start, next thing the water was flooding in through our bedroom ceiling. Luckily none of our belongings were caught by the water. At this point, he decided we'd need to be moved. What a stressful hour that was, if he'd just moved us in the beginning then investigated, mind boggles!! Our next room was bigger but the bathroom was far too small, my husband couldn't use the shower as the step up made the space about ceiling too tight for him(he's 6ft 2). Breakfast was 830am each morning, which consisted of cereals, cooked breakfast, fruit juice & toast plus yogurts, however there was never any yogurts put out. As part of our package, we got a 3 course evening meal each night & Liza was absolutely fabulous, her cooking was delicious & she fully accommodates my husbands dietary requirements, many thanks liza. Liza didn't work Thursday night & this showed in the meals, the food just wasn't as good & no hot drinks were offered or served to anyone in the dining room(We shouldn't have to ask). On returning to the hotel last night, we just couldn't get the key to work in the main front door, I spotted a staff member sitting in the lounge area so tapped on the window. On opening the door, we explained we couldn't get key to work, he tried it & snapped "it works", charming!. Location wise, this hotel is 2 minute walk to coral island howe
