Paul the landlord is horrible very padantic and very nasty he insisted on cash and a £195 deposit of which I received only 140.00 back he also kept another 140.00 of my money for a further week however I just couldn't stay another night it's noisy , it smells of sewage when you walk through the front door and all the other guests seem to be on the dole, unemployed i have a video of a massive fight with people using weapons outside his front door...... please avoid this place I've only given one star and in my opinion that's far too much

My wife Cheryl and I stayed for 2 nights at the Shaftsbury hotel after we booked at the last minute with *********** … when we arrived we were welcomed by Paul ..We had a chat and Paul informed of us the small things that he would like us to follow.. Locking the front door and a couple of things that we needed to do in the room that would ease any burden on any of the other Guests. Very informative and easy to follow.. Paul asked for our breakfast choices and we made our choice.. our room was warm adequate and bijou..we paid for a small double and paid a good rate for it .. Both mornings we enjoyed a lovely breakfast. If we required anything else a quick text to Paul and it was rectified.. we slept well both Nights..we both enjoyed our stay and Made use of the fridge in the kitchen to keep our drinks cool ..we ate out both nights so had no need to use the table in the kitchen area . The transport links are great for Blackpool and the surrounding area .we used the no 3 and 4 bus which is 150 yards around the corner from the hotel Paul is quite a character and we would stay again Thanks Cheryl & Simon

This is lucky to get a one rating well if this is a hotel I am a 6 foot hunk let's get started no sign to show where it was Question it all I got was it says 26 on the email great it was pitch dark had to Google it. The place is complete darkness We up graded to the larger room With the soft mattress. If that was a large room I would hate to see the small one Soft mattress my bum the springs made more noise than a brass band The bed was really small. The two of us in it both had bum cheeks hanging out it Kettle we'll try and fill it had to use tumbler to fill.plug it in no had to use an extension from other end of room TV very small Shower I had to up clip the drain as water would not go it was full of hairs Towels did not match No replen of tea or coffee by the way all out of date Breakfast you given a slot time b Not a problem but my got asked for scramble eggs no way only do that on scramble egg on toast hello 1 mushroom .porrage a joke no kidding like faultly towers the stairs to room so steep no hand rail if you b No good on your pins forget that So many rules and regs In a word stay clear pay a few Bob more get a better place

Pleasant stay in the hotel that was very clean. Paul the owner was friendly and informative and the breakfast was lovely. Beds were nice and comfortable and rooms bright and well maintained. Good location as tram stop just at the end of the road

Read last reviews they were very true breakfast was a car crash food was reheat s microwave would not take kids to this place who gives you tea and toast before your cereal and should have been a selection off cereals in dining area couldn't swing a cat in the dining room

Worst experience in all the years we've been coming to blackpool. Followed instructions when booking to give our ETA and breakfast order before arriving. Got to property and had to ring the bell twice and still no-one answered. A gentleman then came out as we were sat on the front waiting. He took us in and said the owner will be with us shortly to check us in. 15 minutes later he arrived. No welcome no pleasantries. Informed us he allows a 45 min slot for breakfast and had to give breakfast order again, no helping ourselves to cereal though as he will bring it out for us in the morning. Don't use deodorant spray or hairspray in the room as it may trigger the smoke alarm. Steam from shower and hairdryer can also cause it to activate along with the kettle. Couldn't sit on the toilet as no room unless you sat sideways on the seat. Was informed there were set times to get hot water for a shower so best to shower within these times. Bed was low, that it was difficult to get up from. Oh and if you had any rubbish that was bigger than a paper waste bin, you need to find a bin in the street as his bins which he has 3 only gets emptied every two weeks. Decided to leave after 30 minutes of being there as we too scared to do anything or use anything in the room.

Didn’t stay here as there was a stinking smell in the room along with mould & dampness. As soon as we were invited in to the property there was a awful smell. Once the owner had run through his multitude of rules such as ( not to spray deodorant or hairspray unless in the bathroom with the door tightly closed, instructions of how to stand on a chair to reset smoke alarms if a red light comes on as they are sensitive to aerosols being sprayed. How to do a WhatsApp preorder and time slots for breakfast we were then shown to our room which looked tidy but had such an awful smell with dampness on the wall and mould all on the windowsill. I phoned my son for advice and then went to speak to the host and I explained to him that I have significant health issues and wouldn’t be able to stay due to the smell, he was exceptionally rude and accused me of not being happy as it was single beds instead of a double bed. I correctly chose single beds for my stay. He has then proceeded to lie to *********** stating there was no smell but in actual fact stated to my husband that the smell comes and goes. There was no signage outside the property and it looks like a run down house but I was brought up never to judge a book by its cover but how wrong was I !!! There was cillit bang mould remover sat on the windowsill and proprietor stated that spraying that would possibly remove the mould a bit but he was sure it wouldn’t affect my health. I 100 % would not recommend anyone staying here as there are plenty of lovely places in Blackpool with hosts who are very friendly unlike the host of the Shaftesbury hotel.If you read his reply’s to any guests on trip advisor that has had issues with his establishment you will see how disgusting he is. He tries to blame guests rather than take real responsibility and make changes to improve, how he gets through life and even in business with his attitude is beyond me !!!

Room/bed was too small for a double, asked for a time slot for breakfast then get a message to come down for breakfast only to wait a further 30 minutes for it, also after you leave you get billed for something you didn't do, WONT be staying there again.

Absolutely wonderful stay with Paul at The Shaftesbury Hotel. Breakfast was the best breakfast we have ever had, the room was lovely and quiet, showers were lovely. Very reasonably priced and Paul (the host) made us feel very welcome.
