Castel Clara Thalasso & Spa

We visited the gorgeous island of Belle Ile for the first time this weekend and what a great weekend we had. The hotel is set in a stunning location with amazing views and great facilities. We ate in the restaurant the first night and food, wine and service were all first class...can't recommend the Oysetrs enough! We will definitely be returning!

I’ve visited this property with my husband and we have had big issues with the food options and restaurant reservation unavailability. The hotel does not keep a place for every guest in the hotel for dinner and in case we need to book, we were offered to be put in waiting list. We have never been confirmed if a place was available and had to ask again ourselves. When we asked for a solution to the counter, we have been presented the option of room service or cotton bar snack menu which are the same. Please note, there are only 10-12 options to eat out of which only « club sandwich chicken & veggy version » are available. Having had only a place to dine in the restaurant twice out of the 5 days spent there, imagine that we had the opportunity to taste both which was very very low quality. Please note that « seasonal veggy » does not mean a club sandwich with only carrot and salad. The food in snack menu is only based in sea food and for a pregnant woman this is not acceptable to not have any choice. The only good point is that the people working in cotton bar were extremely understanding of the situation and had a discussion with the kitchen offering 2 different choices on one of the night, which was highly appreciated. Besides the overwhelming precision of seafood cuisine practiced in the area, note that if you don’t have any spot to dine in the hotel, you do not have any other option nearby. We got rejected from the only crepery at walking distance on one of the nights. All this is to say the hotel clearly has a benefit of the privileged spot, but the quality of dining is very low and the maintenance condition of the spa does not give « Relais&Chateau » luxury that is promised. The installation is old, and not very welcoming for young couples.

Such a lovely week. Rooms comfortable, the location is stunning, but the service was superb. Friendly and informal. Alex in the bar was first to shine, with the best basil and gin cocktail, as well as making rusty nails late at night. Then the 180 restaurant created a wonderful 8 course tasting menu to go with the terrific wines we had chosen - restaurant manager and team just lovely This is a great place to recover from a busy life, and belle ile is amazing. Cycled up to sauzon on quiet back roads for a great lunch We will be back

Spent 2 nights at Castel Clara and had a fantastic experience. Hotel was really well maintained and the view from my ocean view room was spectacular. On day one I walked on Le sentier Cotier to explore les aiguilles de port cotton and then le grand phare. On my second day, I rented one of their electric bikes which allowed me to visit the entire island without having a car.

Great location, very friendly and competent staff at check in and service !! The downside is- the swimmingpool is really small and mostly overcrowded - sauna is small - parts of spa were out of oder - I had to leave the sauna at 6.30 though officially as stated in papers in the elevator it is open until 7 pm. Room service varied in quality.

Our stay at Castel Clara was really great. The view from the rooms on the shore line were awesome and we really enjoyed it. I can recommendstaying there and dine at the Le 180 restaurant. Great experience and worth the money.
