Villa Marina - Como Lake

I wish I was still there! What a beautiful place with the most amazing people! My husband and I stayed for three nights and we could have stayed longer. Manuela and Francesca took such great care of us even arranging a taxi for us to get to our next location due to a train strike. It's a wonderful place to slow down and relax. Our room was large and had the most beautiful lake view We didn't have a car but walked into town to catch the ferry and dinner. The breakfast was delicious with lots of options. Don't hesitate to book!

I can recommend the Villa Marina in Bellano highly. We stayed for 3 nights towards end of September 2023. Firstly, Bellano is a great place to stay on that side of the like. It is a train stop (next after Varenna) so is easy to get to. It is quiet and away from the hordes of tourists In Bellagio and to a lesser extent in Varenna. I cannot understand why everyone want to go to Bellagio. It is mobbed; hard to get to a restaurant and not that much to recommend it. You can easily skip it. Varenna is a much nicer town and the Villa Monastero has beautiful gardens. Restaurants there have beautiful views over the water. But Bellano is quieter, is train stop or ferry stop away; cheaper and beautiful. The Villa Marina is a 6 roomed historic house on the lake with a magnificent patio and some rooms with lake view. Base yourself there and us the ferries as I did. (You need to time the ferry's so understand the timetable). The ferry is a 15 minute walk. It also has very nice garden area. The Villa is run by Angelo who is the most helpful person I have ever come across in a hotel. Nothing was too much trouble. He can arrange a taxi at short notice to Varenna or the train station; is full of information; carried my bags upstairs (no elevator) and nothing was too much trouble. Breakfast is fantastic (his assistant is Fulvia) and there is coffee all day. He arranged a pickup at the train station (12 EU) and a ride to the ferry with all my bags. The room itself was smallish but all Italian rooms are. It was on the 1st floor overlooking the lake and was very comfortable. Showers are small in almost every hotel I stayed in. We stayed 3 days and it was great. It rained one day so I never got to visit the Orrido. I used it as a base to visit Bellagio; Varenna; Villa Carlotta; Tremezzo and Villa Balbienelo. Highly recommended. (Learn the ferry timetable!). Happy to answer questions.

Angelo the manager was great at helping us get around and making dinner reservations. Shortbwalk to town center and ferry service from Bellano takes you to othe towns along Lake Como. Great breakfast and terrace overlooking the lake. Historical property with stunning garden work. Small kayaks for rent. Beautiful building and stone work. RIGHT ON THE WATER. Excellent property! We spent a lot of time on research for our trip to Como and we have chosen Villa Marina for the first night. It was the best decision. This place has great vibes of historic house, with beautiful garden, terrace overlooking Como lake, a nice jacuzzi. Service is Excellent. I totally recommend this place for everyone who is Looking for exceptional experience.

Villa Marina was exceptional thanks to our host, Marco! The villa itself is beautiful and the setting was lovely and peaceful. It's a small luxury villa so it was exactly what we were looking for. My sister and I stayed for four nights and it turned out much better than we could have hoped for thanks to the service and warmth of our host. Breakfast was included (pastries, quiche, boiled eggs, fruit, cereal, deli meats, cheese) and we got great views of the lake to sit and enjoy breakfast. Marco was always extremely helpful from the time we checked in, from driving us into town (to get items dry cleaned and to an electronics store for a phone charger) to giving us great recommendations on what we should do and see. Tanya was also very accommodating, she helped prepare us for our boat tour and day trip. We also got lucky to enjoy the new hot tub which was installed recently. We can't wait to visit again and highly recommend! 5 stars

Our second trip abck to Villa Marina and couldn't be happier. An iconic historic villa in an exceptional setting. Marco and Tania are the best hosts, every detail is taken care of and their charm and friendliness makes us smile every time.
