The White Hart

This is a lovely small hotel. We stayed 1 night while visiting friends for their wedding reception. The place itself is lovely. The room was clean. We didn’t have any towels when we first arrived but once we told the staff they brought some up in good time. The floors are all incredibly uneven each corridor or room has a different angled floor. It made for an interesting night after a few drinks. We had breakfast included with our room but we weren’t sure what it entailed. Usually when we stay somewhere like this we are offered fruit juice and tea and you are welcome to however much you would like. We were just given a menu and asked what hot drink we would like. We ordered from a small menu but wasn’t given any information regarding what was included in the price. I ended up ordering the toast stack which didn’t look toasted but it was quite hard and chewy to eat. We payed for the room over the phone so didn’t get any sort of confirmation beforehand of what was included so it would have been helpful if the staff at breakfast would maybe let the guests know what was included. Overall the place and area is lovely.

We stayed at the White Hart to see family in the area and found it to be very nicely renovated and clean. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom modern and functional. A door at the top of the stairs served to baffle the sound from the pub below, which made our room quieter than we expected it would be as the place was busy and the atmosphere lively. Next morning we were treated to a delicious breakfast from their Sunday brunch menu (included with our room). My only criticism would be that while the restaurant was busy with Sunday brunch, the service was painfully slow….it took us a good 40 minutes to be served and a further wait of about 10 minutes for someone to settle our room bill for us afterwards. Not a good choice for someone hoping for a quick start the next morning.

A much needed catch up with some old friends , one of whom lives locally suggested we could meet there . We arrived a bit later than planned but were taken to our table where our friends were waiting . We were offered our drinks and provided with a menu as soon as we took our seats . All of our meals were very good quality and on trying a bit of my wife’s chicken dish I know what I will be be ordering on our next visit . Also important to note , while you were aware of the staff’s presence , they were not bothersome in any way and it helped to make our dining experience an extremely pleasant experience as we were never made to feel we had to be out by a certain time after finishing our meals and drinks. Andrew our waiter was responsible for looking after us and did so very well .

Beautiful looking place and higher than average prices to warrant the service and style of the place. However the room above us had the worst creaking floor boards, add a young child running around and that’s two crap night sleeps. Function on one of the nights meant a lot of people noise when they emptied out. Then on the final brekkie, my poached eggs were hard. Little moans and it didn’t ruin our weekend but were annoying. Also my confirmation email said bathroom with bath but got a shower. After mentioning it, they could only split our two night stay into two different rooms. Service was pleasant and food was tasty plus it was right in the heart of Ampthill. No private car park, so had to pay extra for car park right next door

I had my 40th here and it was the best experience from start to end! Everyone I spoke to about the party was always so helpful and answered the many questions which made it super easy. The party was everything i wanted it to be in the gorgeous Stables venue. We stayed all weekend from Friday brunch and dinner, party Saturday and breakfast on Sunday and at no point did we feel like we had to leave the table. Baz and the staff were all spot on. Thank you so much for the best experience, for looking after us so well and the free bubbly. I highly recommend the Spanish rice pudding, cinnamon, caramel sauce...should come with a warning, it's highly addictive!

After booking a table in restaurant for wedding anniversary we were given a table in the bar and told no alternative. The roast beef was so overcooked as to be like leather roast potatoes pale and soft not crisp as should be. Perhaps the worse issue is the lack of any response to the several emails texts and messages raising the issues we had only reply was thanks for your message please book on line. Alan mcmillan
