From the days of mom and pop owned motels. Easy to access off the craziness of Interstate75. Roomy front door parking, and big grassy yard with a couple of picnic tables and trees- although property is alongside somewhat busy road the rooms sit perpendicular to the road. Excellent night-time lighting. Room decor is what one might expect: bold colors, mixed older furniture styles. Curtains close completely to block out light. Bed was firm and four full-size pillows. In-room coffee maker. Bathroom has been upgraded and is filled with light during the day. Air conditioner is older, in-window type, but does the job. Used it with fan on all night which gave a fairly robust "white noise", and no issue with any sounds from the outside nor neighboring rooms. Price was ok, especially during peak travel season in Michigan - yikes! A couple of miles from a huge, multi-use state park that is right on Lake Huron. Daily admission of $11 is steep for a solo traveler passing though it would be worth it for families. Also, cute beach-style drive in nearby called 'Mussel Beach', although didn't get to stop in to check it out. Downside: There was only one lock on the room door, and that was the older kind that was in the doorknob. Something that would be fairly inexpensive to change and should be done by the owners.
