Hotel Beau Rivage

Superb location, right on edge of lake, close to ferry terminal, bars, cafes and restaurants. Housekeeping cannot be faulted, rooms kept spotless daily. Warm welcome from all staff whenever we met them. Although travelling with a tour group, the daily breakfast and dinner menu was always good and varied. Spacious comfortable lounge and bar and helpful and efficient reception. Cannot fault it

We don't know what to say again: our favorite hotel on Lake Maggiore; great staff, great restaurant, great pool, great fitness, great location, great parking, great wi-fi connection : just fabulous!!! We suggest to book the rooms overlooking the pool and mountains

To begin with the positive - the staff are wonderful. Very friendly , helpful & hardworking. They deal with quite a few groups, which must have it's special challenges. The location is excellent & the views are spectacular. It's a nice old hotel with real character, but showing it's age in places. It is very clean. They repaired my TV promptly. The complaints are few & not really major. My bathroom was quite small, with a small quadrant shower with quite a high sill that I kept catching my foot on quite painfully. The shower itself had a really small head & little pressure. The walls are thin & not soundproofed, so I got a lot of TV noise until quite late at night & could clearly hear conversation in rooms alongside mine. I really hate noisy hotel rooms, but the corridors are carpeted, so no footstep noise. We had breakfast & evening meal. Breakfast was fine, but the coffee was awful. I didn't particularly enjoy the evening meals which were often lukewarm. It is very much meat oriented with veal & beef, plus a couple of nights of fish. I tried out what they called omelettes. They were really awful, small round "cakes" not freshly cooked, leathery rather than fluffy & with frozen macedoine veg. There was no coffee after the meal & we were very clealy asked to leave so they could lay up for breakfast. There is an "a la carte menu", so I suppose we have to pay the price of being in a group with another big group there at the same time. I loved the area & enjoyed my stay. It is a 3 star hotel.

The food was not very good. Also the bar closed at 10pm which is totally ridiculous when ur supposed to b on holiday. Have to say Maria was an outstanding member of staff, so friendly and always smiling and helpful
