Horrendous 2x night stay at the Bath Central Travelodge. I have stayed at many branches and this, by far, was the worst. On arrival I was given the keys to my first room which was extremely hot and bright, no blackout curtains and a small fan to cool down the high temperature. The shower didn't work and it was noticeably dirty with clumps of dust in the corners of the room and black mould in the bathroom. As I tried to get some sleep, around 10pm onwards the music from the nightclub/bar below began. It was so loud even with the window closed. I asked to change rooms to be told this wasn't a possibility and I went back to my room playing white noise and wearing noise cancellation earplugs to try and drown out the music and voices (unsuccessfully). Around 1am I started to get upset and feel like I was going mad so I went back down to reception who, this time, had found me another room but it would take 30 minutes to be cleaned. I waited. When I changed rooms I was elated as it was silent! However, then the heat hit me. It was on the 3rd floor and roasting, possibly to a dangerous level. I was given 2x extra fans so I slept with 3x fans on and the window open and after a couple of hours sleep (if that) I woke up and the water in my water bottle had turned to bath temperature due to the heat of the room. It was horrible. This room was equally, if not more, dirty than the first with stains, thick dust, rubbish stuffed behind furniture and black mould. I explained to the reception that I needed to leave as I couldn't stay another night. They found me a 3rd room, this was notably cooler and quieter so I accepted. The cleanliness was no different. I was travelling for work and this was my worst Travelodge stay to date. The ONLY redeeming feature was the staff who were so kind and understanding throughout. A credit to a building and hotel that isn't fit for purpose and needs investigation.
