Hotel zum Spalenbrunnen

Good location ,few minutes walk from old town . Hotel quite dated but nice enough. There is free bus on your return to airport,just ask at reception for free bus ticket. The easiest way is to pass via famous ,gate get number 30 to basil train station ( Basil SBB) and from there airport bus ,number 50 I think

Just an overnight stop for us heading back to UK after a driving holiday to Italy. Not a bad location, 15 minute walk to the riverside. Car parking is in the owners private underground parking in a property a couple 100m away. My wife checked in while I went with owner to park the car. Got back and she was still checking in as on first check-in there was somebody already in the room when she let herself in...... The public areas have a strong smell of curry, this is due to the onsite Indian restaurant at the hotel. It isn't offensive just odd. The hotel has definitely seen better days, the décor and rooms are stuck in a time-warp 1970's, as in not touched since the 1970's not that they are chic and trendy. The bed was big and comfortable and the bathroom had a good shower which are positives for us. The kettle has a lead that doesn't reach the plug so has to stand on top of a lamp to reach.... There wasn't any tea spoons for making tea/coffee. There was no air-con but an electric fan provided, unfortunately this had no real strength to move any air in the room. Carpets very worn and frayed in places and the extraction fan in bathroom was very dirty and clogged with dust and fibres. Accepting that Basel/Switzerland is expensive this hotel still isn't great VFM overall

Si vas con coche, basilea no es la mejor opción, todo es línea azul y con unos horarios límite muy malos. El hotel era un poco extraño, olía todo el hotel a comida hindú ya que tiene un restaurante que ocupa casi todo el espacio. La habitación era muy grande aunque con el famoso enmoquetado horrible, pero el baño a parte de ser horrible era enano. El personal del hotel fue muy amable.
