Villa Moorings

We stayed sadly for 1 night only due to time constraints ! The staff are welcoming, friendly and highy efficient. The building is very well presented and is very well maintained. A stunning Victorian Style Tuscan Villa, the hotel rooms are set on 2 upper sprawling floors. lovely rooms, immaculately turned out with impressive landing areas which you can relax and use. An outdoor swimming pool in on offer as well. Breakfast is very comprehensive, served by wonderfully cheery ladies. Nothing is too much bother ! Please give it a go, you won't be disappointed !

The building and grounds are historic and beautiful. The service is excellent with the hotel staff looking to be as helpful as possible. The breakfast was what you would expect at a good Italian venue. Our room had an AC which is a must in August weather. We also got some beautiful views of the mountains from our windows. The hotel is not too far from some great hikes if you like being outdoors (about 25-35 min drive away) and is also walking distance from the main restaurant area. While we had a pleasant stay, we were surprised at how dated our room, furnishings and bathroom were. The bed was also hard. We also would have appreciated a heads up in advance that there would be a jazz concert on the grounds the night we arrived as we were quite exhausted from the trip only to find out we would be going to bed as early as we would have liked (to note the concert was free for guests so def a perk if you aren't tired and look fwd to some fun entertainment).

Old building but well maintained We were given a very large bedroom/ mini suite with bathroom, separated by a small room. Bed looks old but actually is quite comfortable. Missed small things like complimentary bottle of water; box of tissue paper Nice shower Fabulous views and enjoyed the balcony Breakfast consists of a simple buffet from 8.30-11 Two floors of rooms. Lots of stairs with no elevators Owned by Beatrice. Answers questions but doesn’t really proactively offer advice. Real treasure is Nadia who looks after you at breakfast in such a cheerful manner Lots of free onsite parking Not too far a walk to the old town of Barga

We travelled as a family of four, myself my husband and two daughters aged 6 and 3. We had a delightful welcome. The staff were very accommodating and kind. They helped with many queries before and during our stay. The hotel has retained many old features which is lovely to see, there is AC in the rooms, the water is always lovely and hot. The beds were comfortable and rooms were clean. The breakfast was pleasant and eggs are cooked to order. We thoroughly enjoyed the choice of music played at breakfast. The bedrooms were very spacious, we stayed on the top floor attic and my daughters had their own room which was beautiful too. If you would like a view from the windows I'd suggest a mid floor. The pool was nice and cool and there are always loungers available. The old town was easily walkable but there are many steep inclines for those who are less able. My two girls managed the walk fine. There are plenty of restaurants within the town to choose from, these were average. The town is quiet even in peak season so if you're looking for a quiet sleepy medieval italian town for pleasant walks this would be the right place. Villa moorings hotel is highly recommended for your stay.

We stayed here for a week and were given a warm welcome by Beatrice, Nadia and all the staff. The hotel is perfectly situated to explore Barga and the surrounding Serchio valley. The hotel only has 12 rooms and feels very intimate, more like staying with friends rather than in a hotel. The rooms are charming, ours had a lovely balcony overlooking the pool and surrounding tranquil countryside. The breakfasts were more than adequate, and pool very welcome after a hot day exploring the local countryside. Beatrice, Nadia and team were delightful and went out their way to ensure we had everything we needed, including ordering taxis for us to to get to and from the train station. I would highly recommend Villa Moorings and hope to stay with them again.

We had a lovely time staying in Beatrice's hotel situated in Barga. Very impressive building with nice rooms and balcony overlooking the Serchio Valley. Great place to be based for exploring Northern Tuscany. The surrounding hill towns are beautiful and very quiet. The Scottish connection with Barga is fascinating. Special thanks to Beatrice and Nadia and all other staff for making us feel so welcome!
