The reception staff were lovely and very friendly, but that is the end of the positives. The hotel is tired and in need of refurbishment. The pool is a good size, but is used for external swimming lessons etc. as well as by hotel guests, so can get busy. The changing facilities need a revamp - a couple of showers were broken/not working properly. The food is what I might have expected at a cheap cafe, not a 4* hotel. The breakfast was £18 per person; I've had better at a Travelodge. While we were there, there were 2 coach trips staying at the hotel, so there weren't enough seats for everyone to eat and people were being turned away and asked to come back later. There were some issues with the hot water while we were there which meant that we were not able to have a hot shower/bath throughout the stay. I reported this to reception both in the evening when I first discovered it, and the following morning when the water was still cold. I complained at check out and was told that I had already pre-paid (as was required at check-in) so they couldn't do anything about a refund, but that someone would be in touch. After much chasing on my part, I finally got a response from the hotel and the matter has been resolved, although not entirely to my satisfaction. In summary, my experience of this hotel was well below that of any other 4* hotel in which I have stayed. I would certainly not stay here again.
