Ice House Hotel

We stayed here for our honeymoon. We had a resort in Thailand planned but our friends were getting married the week after our wedding in Clare. We stayed here instead...oh my God it's amazing! They gave us a complimentary romantic turndown with rose petals and during our evening meal surprised us with congratulations written on the dessert plate. The food is impeccable in both the restaurant and the bar! Food: Restaurant: We had goats cheese roulade and brie starter. We had steak and duck main. Pecan pie and berry crumble for dessert. 10/10 Bar: We had chilli prawn tacos (oh my this is amazing and must try) and the wild mushroom linguine (again an absolute must try! In fact, just copy our order and trust you'll be delighted. Atmosphere: Everything about this place is super romantic. The vibe is chill, the staff let you relax but are attentive to anything you need. Again it's 5 star from a guest perspective, currently they're on 4 stars and they really deserve that 5 star title. Spa: Unfortunately the spa treatments weren't available during our stay, so we booked the mud baths, this was very relaxing, baths overlook the river and it's picturesque. It rained a little but nothing could put a dampen on our spa day. The hot tubs overlooking the river are also incredible. Access to hot tub and thermal suites are complimentary with the stay. The mud baths are €80-100 each, but for an occasion worth a try! Thank you so much to everyone here for making us feel special and topping our honeymoon expectations! We decided you'll be out anniversary dinner location from now on, seeing as Darver castle where we married was only a wedding venue and doesn't offer hotel or restaurant experiences. 10/10 recommend. A beautiful two night stay in the ice hotel with 5 star treatment. The staff were incredibly friendly and extremely accommodating. We had dinner in the restaurant on the first night and ordered the bar food to the room on the second night. We personally favoured the bar menu but all meals were delicious. The breakfast was simple but effective. We also enjoyed two spa treatments and two outdoor mud bath experiences. We left wanting more but feeling very relaxed. Thank you to all the staff for adding the the experience.

We stayed here for our 5th wedding anniversary last weekend. It was our first trip away together since our little girl was born last year so it was extra special. The whole experience was amazing. The hotel staff looked after us very well and really helped us feel welcomed. The food in the restaurant was excellent and the cocktails were so good. The weather was also really good and the spa area felt extra relaxing with the wonderful views

We came for a 2 night break after a wedding weekend in Sligo. We booked a riverside suite and availed of the spa facilities. From the moment we checked in and met Matthew (who was just brilliant) it set the tone for a fabulous stay. It might have rained the entire time but it did not dampen our mood. We can’t wait to come back again. We had lunch in the hotel and ate our elsewhere but lunch was fabulous and the breakfast was also really good; we will try dinner in the hotel next time. We read some negative reviews about the food but our experience was wholly positive. Can’t fault this hotel at all.

Just returned from 2 lovely days in the Ice House,so pleasant,relaxing and refreshing.The staff everywhere were excellent. The food was good, and I particularly loved my time in the spa.An excellent location for a day trip to visit North Mayo

I had high expectations for the Ice House Hotel, but unfortunately, my stay was far from what I expected from a so-called five-star establishment. First, the breakfast was a major letdown. The quality of the food was poor, and the service was slow and inattentive. I expected a better selection and higher standards, but it felt more like a budget hotel experience rather than a luxury one. The facilities were also underwhelming. For a hotel that markets itself as high-end, the amenities were lacking and in need of improvement. It didn’t have the comfort or sophistication I anticipated. To make matters worse, the staff was not friendly or welcoming. Good service is a key part of any hotel experience, and the lack of hospitality made the stay even more disappointing. Overall, I wouldn’t rate this as a five-star hotel by any means. If you’re looking for a truly luxurious and enjoyable stay, I would recommend looking elsewhere.
