Mule Malu Tropical Stay

Beautiful resort, quiet retreat from very busy street. Staff exceptional and made our staff very enjoyable and easy to arrange what we needed. Only downfall for me was the tourist/local ratio, less friendly and street crowd more about what they looked like in their own reflection than relaxation and easy going feel. I didn’t feel as confident riding my own scooter due to traffic and other tourists riding too fast but was easy to organise a Gojek or local taxi within minutes. Area is expensive and over priced for shopping/food/drinks compared to other areas (Lembongan, Ceningan, Kuta, Ubud) etc We travelled with our teenage daughter, she utilised the sofa bed in our hut for the week - worked well for us and very comfortable bedding, great AC, water refill station in bar area, pool spotless, great breakfast package (little limited but food/coffee amazing) and we rarely needed lunch

I booked a last-minute solo trip to Bali to unwind and decided to stay in Uluwatu for something new. My main priorities were proximity to a gym, yoga studio, cafes, and shops. Mule Malu exceeded all my expectations! The property is conveniently located—just a 10-minute stroll to Bingin Beach—and the staff make all the difference. Their attentive service, coupled with the effort to know you by name, made my stay feel extra special. If you’re planning a trip to Uluwatu, look no further than Mule Malu. It’s everything you need and more!

This is a beautiful resort. The staff are so friendly and amazing and helpful! We stayed from 26th Dec to 1st Jan the resort is quiet and so well maintained, rooms are spacious and so comfortable and pretty! Breakfast package is excellent value great selection and excellent coffee. We stayed as two couples/family we had some fantastic cocktails and excellent on site massage. So easy to access and close to all the restaurants, beaches, beach clubs, shops but off the main road feels very secluded and private. Lovely pool and lounge area. Truly a Hidden paradise, you get hit by a feeling off relaxation as soon as you arrive. Our only regret was that we didn't stay longer. Such an lovely place and the staff was warm, helpful and welcoming. Would highly recommend this place to anyone 😊

Great facilities and location however my mattress was infested with bedbugs. I showed the management small dots of blood on my sheets and bites on my legs that were incredibly red (not like a mosquito) after I woke up in the morning. I even sent them a website which gave detailed information about bedbugs, and I explained they can be brought in by backpackers/other guests, as I've experienced these exact kind of bites while travelling before. Unfortunately they didn't seem receptive to me and tried to claim the bugs in Bali are 'different', and just changed my sheets and added a soft mattress topper (which will do exactly nothing about the bedbugs that live in the mattress). When there was small dots of blood on my sheet and more bites the next day, I informed them again that it was bed bugs and they changed my sheets again and seemed to think a $10 free breakfast (which they would not let me swap for my $10 bill at the bar) made up for an infested, unhygienic mattress and receiving itchy, sore bites - all when I was paying $170 per night. After sending a 2nd formal complaint email, they offered to change one of the mattresses (it was two single beds on a double bed base) which again, would not address the bedbug issue in any way. They did not offer to change my room, offer me a refund for my remaining night or even to put me up in a different hotel for the last day. I slept my last night on the single mattress on top of a double bed base which was not what I paid for with my room but better than more bites I guess. Unfortunately due to how difficult it was to address the issue and the lack of customer service policies, I cannot recommend this accommodation and will not be staying here again. FYI I speak fluent Indonesian and communicated everhthing extremely clearly, it just wasn't dealt with well.
