Hampton by Hilton Nuevo Vallarta

I have stayed at some high end beachfront hotels n the area over the past 15 years and if you are coming to town and do not need a beach front hotel this is the place. I stayed here when it first opened and it was clean, staff very hospital and after several years open it has gotten better WOW! And the price you can not beat for the area and cleanness, you want to stay here. David the GM and his staff have kept things very clean and made service improvements that have enhanced the the visitors experience. It is our home away from home. Donnie G

Riu Vallarta - All Inclusive

We arrived back a week ago and wanted to collect my thoughts on this resort before writing. We had a great time and are planning a trip back for our family in a year or so. We were there celebrating our anniversary and we were given chocolate strawberries, champagne and a nice note. I understand that is not much for many but the small gesture was very thoughtful and appreciated. Our room faced another resort/condos but since not many there it was interesting to watch the quiet activity over there. The food was really good we found and very plentiful. Beach was amazing and where we spent the majority of our days. We did try a pool one day but it got contaminated by a child and was closed for the remainder of the day. But from what I could tell lots of people really enjoyed the pools. We tried every specialty restaurant, our favorite was Italian and least favourite the steakhouse. I think it had to do with how hot the evening was (restaurant is on a patio) and our steaks were way way overcooked. My husband did eat them both though as he didn’t want it to go to waste. Like I said we had nothing serious to complain about, your vacation is what you make of it as well. We can’t wait to return!
Hotel Villa Varadero

We stayed at Villa Varadero 25 years ago and our room looked exactly the same today as then. Beds were uncomfortable, patio doors didn't close and had an inch gap at the top which maintenance tried to fix and did improve. Otherwise you heard the waves hitting the shore all night. Food options were very limited. Staff weren't even sure which restaurants would be open at their newer building across the street. One restaurant is Italian and the other Mexican and most nights the main floor one was open with both cuisines available. Pasta was dry and needed more sauce, pizza was soft and soggy. Once the restaurants closed for breakfast it was the snack bar that was open from 12-5. It offered hot dogs, very think patty burgers, soggy French fries, tortilla chips with cheese sauce. There would be some fruit, usually papaya and something else but any attempt to eat healthy was difficult at best. The dinner on the beach was the highlight of the culinary offerings at the resort. I would recommend that and it was included as we stayed more then three nights. We did the bike tour and the bikes have had no maintenance done to them. We were given bikes with flat tires, no functional brakes, seats that couldn't be adjusted and chains that have never been greased. All fixed gears and incredibly tough to peddle. The location is ideal and steps from the ocean. Staff are all friendly as one would expect but outside of that very few positives about this stay.
