The hotel is currently expanding, which makes the older sections feel neglected while the newer areas remain unfinished. We stayed for three nights in one of the modern electric blue beehive rooms. The views from the balcony were spectacular, but the room’s design had some frustrating flaws. For example, the bedside reading light switch was inconveniently placed, requiring you to get out of bed to turn it off. Similarly, reaching the toilet paper from the seat was awkwardly difficult. I had expected scenic hill paths for pre-dinner strolls, but unfortunately, the surroundings don’t offer much in that regard. Additionally, be prepared for long drives—most tourist attractions are at least one to two hours away by car each way. That said, as with all six hotels we stayed at in southern Sri Lanka, the staff were warm, gentle, and often proactive in their service.

Die Umgebung ist wirklich sehr gut. Die Villa liegt in einem kleinen Dorf auf dem Hügel. Es ist sehr ruhig und die Einheimischen sind super und nett. Ein oder zwei Minuten vom Hotel entfernt gibt es eine Grünfläche mit Blick auf den gesamten See, eine herrliche Aussicht. Das Hotel ist groß, mit einem großen Hof auf der Rückseite, im Hof sitzen und den Kindern beim Spielen und Kaffeetrinken zusehen, wirklich komfortabel. Leider sind wir nur eine Nacht geblieben, ansonsten ist die Landschaft hier so schön, dass es sich lohnt, einen ganzen Tag zu leben. Das einzige, was ausspuckt, ist die Straße zum und vom Hotel. Es ist zu gruselig, Einbahnstraße, Bergpfad, keine Straßenlaterne. Glücklicherweise ist unser Fahrer sehr professionell und erkennt die Straße.

If you’re looking for a peaceful and tranquil stay then Moi Ella is the place! We had such a lovely & relaxing stay here. The staff were extremely welcoming and attentive, we were greeted with some tea and delicious coconut pancake on arrival which was just what we needed after a long drive. The breakfast and dinner was also amazing. The hotel offers 360 views of the beautiful hills and mountains of Ella, and you can even head up to the top floor to catch sunrise - we did this one morning and it was absolutely breathtaking!! If you’re looking to stay in/near Ella then you might want to find somewhere closer to the town as this hotel is about a 30 minute drive out of town so you’ll need transport. We didn’t mind though as we loved how peaceful and secluded the hotel was :)
