I want to share my honest experience about a recent stay at a “wenasa”hotel AKA “top mountain resort” in Diyathalawa, and let me tell you, it was quite an adventure! First off, finding the location was a bit of a challenge. Arriving late at around 9 PM, we were greeted with gusts of snowy wind and winding roads that were nearly covered in white. Our trusty Google Maps led us into a maze of tea estates and narrow paths cloaked in paddy fields, eventually landing us at a dead end. After some navigating, we finally found our way to the hotel! A tip for future travelers: if you want to find the hotel easily, head to the Diyathalawa General Hospital. Just a little down on the right, you’ll spot a big lion statue. Follow that path for about 300 meters, and look for the hotel sign, take the road that slopes down! Once we arrived, the hotel staff were incredibly welcoming from the moment we walked in until check-out. The place itself was nestled in a stunning mountain area, offering breathtaking views. Our deluxe room was neat and spacious, featuring a cozy double bed along with two big single beds (even you can share it with 2). There was a slight odor coming from the bathroom, likely from the furniture or paint, but it was nothing serious. I assure you, the bathroom was clean and well-sanitized, and the hot water was a delightful treat after our long journey. The next morning, we enjoyed breakfast at the hotel, and wow, it was worth every penny! We ordered the English breakfast, and it was absolutely delicious, filling us up nicely for the day ahead. The staff continued to impress us with their friendliness, always smiling and eager to help whenever we needed anything. If you're looking for a cozy spot to stay around Bandarawela or Diyathalawa, I highly recommend this hotel. It’s a hidden gem, and I can't wait to visit again!
