If you’re looking for somewhere basic but clean and comfortable, I’d highly recommend Enclave at Healesville (herein after referred to as Enclaves.) Admittedly, I initially only booked it because my first choice of accommodation was booked out; I can say, however, that I’m genuinely happy with my stay. There are cabins of differing sizes at the Enclaves to suit a variety of different sized groups and/or families. I opted for a basic one bedroom cabin and was very satisfied with the mattress (firm and supportive as I like them) and having a ceiling fan above the bed; I had one of the best nights of sleep with the fan blowing on me. Another thing that I appreciated: good quality blinds, which were fitted to all windows but the bathroom ones. They were beneficial for both privacy and keeping out the light from the outside when trying to sleep. My only complaints: 1) Showers are on the small side. I’m over six foot tall and a large person so trying to duck under the metal rail to get in the shower and turn around to reach things (eg. Shampoo, soap, etc) was somewhat awkward. If you’re a parent trying to supervise a young child in the shower, it could also be awkward. 2) Split system remote control displays are very difficult to read. It can make for an awkward time if you’re trying to determine if it’s set to cooling or heating. A couple of things that I’ll add before wrapping up. NB. This is NOT intended as a criticism of the accommodation OR the staff; rather, more advice for travellers. 1) Be prepared to travel a few kilometres for food or BYO food. Apart from tea and coffee facilities, including milk, there are no options to purchase food on site. I don’t even remember seeing a vending machine. It’s also not like Ballarat or Bendigo where there are an abundance of eateries within walking distance; I had to drive 3-4 km onto the Maroondah Highway to get a meal and buy provisions from the Coles. 2) It’s a gated venue - similar to some workplaces with security passes to staff carparks, visitors and residents (it also has a retirement village part) can only enter if they have a security passes, which is only obtainable with a booking. For this reason, Uber Eats or similar isn’t viable. The cabins do, however, come with a stove top and a microwave so cooking is an option.
