Camping les Sables

The site itself is very good and the pitches are large and lots of privacy. Checkin was easy and the faculties apart from bar are good. Good toilet/shower blocks regularly checked and cleaned. Lots of permanent mobile homes who look like do not use the facilities much which is fine. We were possibly unlucky in timings as had what looked like a school or club of approx 30 kids and 20 adults turn up. They basically took the monopoly of all facilities in terms of pool, bar and restaurant. E.g. went to the bar Saturday evening and tried to order food approx 8:30pm but told no food orders then the crowd started ordering food etc gone 10pm. No extra staff so only what looked like 3. so appears they did not staff up just turned others away to focus on party crowd. Spoiled it for me and so would not recommend or return.

We recently stayed for two weeks on this site. Having read some reviews regarding nighttime noise, I had asked ahead for a quiet spot on the campsite as we have young children. Our pitch was about halfway back, and apart from one or two ‘dance evenings’ the noise from the bar did not travel to our tent. It would be nice if the entertainment were to start (and finish) a little earlier to allow younger children to participate for some of it- or maybe some alternative entertainment in the earlier evening for them if not. The pitches are very large- we have a big tent but there was plenty of space. The campsite seems to cater for lots of motorhomes on account of the large pitch sizes. The pool area is well laid out and our kids enjoyed the waterslides. The bar and restaurant staff are very friendly and helpful, as are those at reception. Our pitch was directly opposite one of three of the well equipped and well supplied sanitary blocks and we could therefore see for certain that they were cleaned very regularly each day. Any poor sanitation in between is down to misuse by holidaymakers. There is a train track beside the site but we weren’t too bothered by any passing trains- they pass by quickly anyway and didn’t wake us up early in the morning which is the most important thing!! We would have liked if there had been a shop, and it was a bit of a pain having to commit to our croissant order the day before! We initially went to the beach beside the campsite in Aytre which is fine- but found a far sandier and more pleasant beach in Chatellion Plage on our last week, which is 20 minutes drive away. We really wish we’d found it sooner! La Rochelle is beautiful and we loved travelling in at night to play in the playground, wander around the old port and get an ice cream in Ernestos. All in all, a super holiday and would recommend

Nous avons passés une bonne semaine au camping mi-août. Nous avions un mobil home sans vis à vis et avec une terrasse couverte équipée d'une table et d'un salon de jardin ce qui double la surface du logement très appréciable pour les repas. Le camping est propre, la piscine est grande (piscine couverte, jeux d'eau, toboggan, rivière et autre) l'équipe est disponible, les animations sont variées, plusieurs espace de jeu pour les enfants. Quelques points négatifs quand même : le manque d'équipement dans la cuisine (pas de bouilloire, ni de machine à café à dosette mais une cafetière à filtre par exemple), une télévision très petite qui capte très mal, l'eau chaude de la douche difficile à régler et les conversations des voisins sur leur terrasse qu'on entend malgré toutes les fenêtres fermées jusqu'à 1h du matin ... alors qu'il y a pourtant une consigne de calme indiqué dans les logements. Le camping est bien situé, proche des sites touristiques et de la plage.

Moi et mon fils avons passé un agréable séjour. Piscine bien. Pizza je recommande. Animateurs sympa.
