Premier Inn Aviemore

Had a pleasant 1 night stay here recently. We got a great deal with free breakfast, which was very tasty indeed. Rooms are your typical Premier Inn rooms, with everything you need for a quick 1 night stay. The room was clean on arrival, however as it was at the back, it was quite dark, with no phone signal and poor TV channel options. Not perfect, but we were only there for 1 night. Bar and restaurant area very welcoming Free onsite parking, but it does get busy, so arrive early to get a space.

This was my first visit to a Premier Inn and I hold my hands up to having secured it at a very reasonable price for 2 people with the added bonus of free cooked breakfasts thrown in as well. First impressions upon arrival were good – the building seemed clean and inviting and the staff were very nice. Our twin room was tiny. Set up was a double bed and a small and uncomfortable couch bed. The whole room seemed designed to discourage guests from spending any more time in it than was absolutely necessary. But it was cheap and for one night should have been absolutely fine. The room was superficially clean but lacked some finishing touches, e.g. the bath needed going over to remove product residue and watermarks. I was actually surprised to see a bath in a new build hotel rather than a walk-in shower but guess there must be a reason for this. No actual “window” in room – just fixed glass panels so no natural ventilation. There was air conditioning however which came with instructions on how to vary the room temperature. Total waste of time and effort – transpired that guests are not empowered to set their own room temperature; reception has control over all the rooms so you need to ask them to adjust things on their master control panel. Wish I was kidding. No mobile signal in rooms and very patchy signal in communal ground floor areas. Upper floor corridors are very narrow. I am honestly surprised that they conform to fire regulations. But what finished me off was the fact that when we left the room in the morning to go down to breakfast a note had been slipped into the doorframe to advise that no hot breakfast option was available that day. Continental breakfast was available - pretty basic but plentiful. Dining room was also very small and cramped – think it could get very busy in high season. Stripped the beds before departure (a habit I have hung onto from the covid travel era) to discover a blood stain and a large “liquid” stain on the mattress protector on the double bed. Yuck!

This was our first visit Premier Inn Aviemore, and we loved every minute. The location is great and the staff is fantastic. Special mention to Monique at the Reception, who was exceptionally helpful and fun when checking in. Great walks near and short distance away from Cairngorm's. We'll be back soon! We have been staying at the Premier Inn Aviemore since they opened a few years ago as it's a firm favourite and with the brand you know what you are paying for. It's in such an idyllic location just a stones throw away from the Cairngorms and is still within walking distance of Aviemore town centre. There is free parking on arrival which makes it ideal for hiking, cycling or just going for a wander without the worry of paying for parking over a few nights. The hotel can be rather pricey due to its location but is worth every penny compared to other hotels/B&Bs in the area, I would advise booking and paying in advance as that's where Premier Inn offers the best deal at the moment. The hotel itself is brilliant but upon closer inspection I can see in areas there does need to be some refurbishment with its high turnover of guests due to its location, it can get quite used and abused with marks on the walls, loose furniture/accessories, wear/wetness around the windows. It is still very clean and tidy just as you would expect but feel it would do with some maintenance in areas to bring it back up to spec as I would hate to see it decline even more. They do have an inbuilt Thyme restaurant with a limited menu which is due to their staffing levels but breakfast is always spot on as you can expect at a Premier Inn, we got one complimentary due to having issues with our keycard reader on our door which took over 40mins to resolve but these things happen, the manager was brilliant and sorted us out with one free breakfast (could of been 2 haha!) which always makes it tastes better. There is always plenty of selection from cereal & pastries to the well stocked buffet, no better way perfect way to set you up for a day in the mountains! Premier Inn Aviemore will always be our favourite to stay in: you know what to expect, the staff are always so friendly and the rooms clean/tidy with plenty of space.

Heating in basement room not working first night. Monique sorted us with two oil heaters. She was extremely helpful during our stay. Menu Limited. No gas for beer pumps. Bar shuts at 11pm. Stayed here before with no issues. Cleaning staff helpful to retrieve lost bracelet. Would stay here again.
