Hotel Metropole

We have stayed here several times before and it was wonderful.... Previously we had rooms on the 4th floor with a balcony overlooking the Harbor. Great room! This time our room overlooked the side street and was across the hall from the motors powering the jaquizzi. Horrible! Motor noise all day till 11:00at night and road noise late at night am beginning again early morning. DO NOT TAKE ROOM 316! In addition our TV did not work even with the maintenance guy coming up & could not watch the baseball playoffs. And finally ... The bathtub was not fully operational. Could not transfer from the main faucet to the spray. Probably had not been used in a while. Just stuck! We were dissappointed

This was our first trip to Catalina, so maybe I had unrealistic expectations for this hotel. I chose it over the Pavilion due to the location near the restaurants we wanted to go to. The location is excellent and we discovered that most every place on Catalina is within walking distance so that really wasn't a factor. Although M is right downstairs! We reserved a Superior King and got an accessible room with an enormous bathroom with safety bars. The 3rd floor room was small with a balcony that had 2 chairs and a small table and overlooked the courtyard. The room had mirrored closet doors and a refrig and Keurig. There was a desk with chair, a round table with 2 chairs, but no comfortable easy chair. The wood floor felt gritty and the dresser drawers were stuck. We used the shelves in the closet. The entry door was warped so light showed through on the sides and underneath. The huge bathroom had a large shower with good water pressure and a small vanity with a bright mirror. The "breakfast" is minimal and there are no tables and chairs. You have to take it upstairs (there are trays). Coffee, tea, OJ, cereal, yogurt, and a few pastries. Overall, the rooms need an uplift and this hotel is overpriced.

Unfortunately, I have to give the hotel a low score based on the price and issues with the room. Paying over $700 a night to stay in the "VIP" wing of hotel, the A/C was not working and a portable unit was in the room along with a fan, but had to run constantly to keep the room cool (loud when trying to sleep). Sliding screen door to the Juliet balcony didn't close all the way, so bugs could come through. No tea for the Keurig machine. Not everyone drinks coffee! No room service, no local transportation to things only a couple miles away. Hot tub on the roof was dirty and filled with sand. It was nice to have bottled water in the room, but the taste/brand was nasty. I will definitely stay at another hotel on my next trip to Catalina.

My wife and I stayed here three nights last month. The room itself is wonderful. Comfortable bed, plenty of space, and one of the nicest showers you could hope for in a hotel room. I didn't care for the pillows, although my wife was content with hers. There was commotion outside our door a couple of nights. The positioning of our door to the adjoining room was mere inches away, and whoever was staying in the room next to ours had a friend who'd come knock on their door and yell loudly for whoever was in there to open up. The first night this happened, I was unsure of the sobriety of the individual who was pounding on the door, but the second night, when he started in again, I opened the door to ask what was going on. He apologized, and after that there was no more pounding. One other issue: On Wednesday night, there was a band playing in the small courtyard of the hotel. We could hear the music VERY well, and since we're not night owls and tend to go to bed early, this could have been annoying. Thankfully - and mercifully, perhaps - whoever's band this was was quite good. In any case, I think they were finished by 10 or so. We'd stay here again, but there are also other hotels to check out as well. I may pick a different room to stay in. We did enjoy our stay though.

Amazing location. Comfortable rooms and bed. Excellent shower. Nice accommodations. Love the courtyard area. Staff was so friendly. My sister, mother and I stayed. We loved the live music in the courtyard and all the shops. Definitely will come back here

I love going to Catalina and this was our best experience ever thanks to the Metropole. The beautifully decorated VIP suite was super clean and beautiful, with incredible views of the town, ocean and harbor. We enjoyed the large outdoor sitting area, the muffins and croissants in the morning and the awesome bouquet of fresh flowers in our room. Location was excellent, right in town, easy to get to shops, galleries and restaurants. The M at the Metropole was a great choice for dinner. Thanks to all of the employees who were always helpful and friendly.

I’ve stayed here before and loved it just as much the 2nd time. The room I wanted (102 I think) was booked so I called and the recommended 105 and the view was just as wonderful. Everything in the room looks brand new and high end. It’s in a fantastic location on top of many great shops and near tons of restaurants. It’s a short 5 minute walk from the boat. Also, upon returning from dinner there was a bottle of champagne and 2 glasses waiting for us! Such a nice touch. We will be back.

Beautiful hotel with perfect location in Catalina. Room was very clean and spacious with fabulous patio and great view of harbor and beach. Staff are professional and friendly especially Asia. Would definitely stay here again and recommend it highly!

Great ocean views. The rooms are super clean and staff are very helpful with any concerns that you may have. The fireplace inside was a nice touch during the night. Will stay again in the future. Close to all the downtown restaurants and pier.
