The hotel itself was alright, it didn’t look like the pictures and was quite outdated, outside of the hotel was dreadful, *********** everywhere, was warned to be careful when going out of a night, if the hotel was at a different location it would be decent.

We stayed in Ambrosia suites as part of a Wowcher mystery holiday and were more than happy! The hotel itself is just what you need for a city break - clean, comfy and well priced! The area where the hotel is isn’t the best but as long as you mind your business, people will too! I probably wouldn’t recommend going out at night as a solo female traveller but you’re fine in groups! The staff were really friendly and we felt very safe in the hotel

This is really two reviews, because we stayed here at the beginning of our vacation and then also at the end, in two different rooms. The experiences were vastly different because the rooms were vastly different. First, more about the hotel in general. It is located in easy walking distance from many great sights, including the metro, the Acropolis, Varvakios Market, and the National Garden. However, the street itself is a bit rundown, and the hotel faces two giant buildings that look like they've been condemned. That being said, we never felt unsafe there. Although, if I was traveling by myself, I might be a bit nervous out late at night. The desk staff were very nice and very helpful, especially in getting us taxis early in the morning to the airport. Breakfast was more substantial than most European breakfasts and included some absolutely delicious fresh tomatoes and cucumbers. The water pressure in the hotel was great and there was plenty of really hot water. There is a tiny elevator and some spiral stairs. Now to the rooms. The first one was awful (I believe it was Room 22). It was tiny, with a bed that felt like a box spring with the springs having escaped. The air conditioner didn't work, and the room got really stuffy. We opened the window, which helped a little, but it was very loud with the noise from the street below, even after midnight. The second room was much better (I think it was Room 51). It was actually a suite with a bigger bathroom. The air conditioner in that room worked well. Everything seemed newer and nicer than in the previous room. If this review was based on just the first room, it would have been a 2, but the second room brought it up to a 3.

The room (as is the whole place) was really clean and pretty, the breakfast is plenty and larger variety than what i expected for the price. The bed is top notch and the staff is super friendly. The location is convenient but i admit could feel a little unsafe here and there.

First the positives, the hotel is clean and not far from the metro station. The rest is terrible. The facilities are poor, the furniture is 30 years old, the beds are really uncomfortable, the doors don't lock properly, the rooms smell, there is not kettle or microwave only a fridge that freezes your water. The TV is tiny with no non Greek channels. Most annoyingly the Wi-Fi is slow, unreliable and barely existent at busy times. The breakfast is very simple, bread and cereal. Left luggage was the corridor which felt unsecure. The area where it is located feels very unsafe. There are street ***********, homeless people, syringes, refugees and beggars. There was also load music from the street when you were trying to sleep. This hotel spoiled my stay in Athens. Avoid at all costs.

This was a most horrible experience. I am writing this review to spare anyone else from making the mistake of booking this hotel I booked this hotel through my travel Agent in Canada who showed me this location that looked just fine online. (Pictures can be deceiving so beware). We paid in advance as is custom when booking through a travel Agency. When my travel partner and I arrived (July 2022), we were shocked and outright concerned for our safety as the area is quite sketchy. The cab driver did not even seem comfortable as he dropped us off and quickly left. The Hotel is not even a one star, but there is no lesser ranking I can check. The service was poor and the hotel clerk did even seem to want to be there. The elevator seemed unsafe, the hotel room door lock was compromised and not secure, while the room was terrible with an offensive odour. It was later when we arrived, so we knew we had to switch our hotel and do it quickly to find something that was available. We were NOT going to stay there. So within 40 minutes, we were able to open our laptops and book another hotel. Unbeknown to us (due to it being our first time in Athens) there were a LOT OF GREAT HOTELS just around the corner from where we were. We booked one of them that had availability for us (3 nights) and we proceeded to go downstairs to the 1 clerk on duty to ask him for a refund, as we were unsatisfied and leaving. He threw his hands up and said "No refund". I can't help you. Otherwise, "no- it is up to you if you want to leave". So, instead of arguing, we left anyway and emailed our travel agent right away with the formal complaint, since we booked through the Agency. The rest of our stay in Athens was amazing and our remainder trip in Santorini - wonderful. Those hotels were great. When we got back home, our travel Agent said that the hotel, when approached by them still refused to refund any of our money, even for the two other nights and said it was because we did not make a formal complaint. THIS WAS UNACCEPTABLE. Thankfully, our travel agent, in efforts to restore our confidence in them, refunded two of our nights out of their own expenses. But the hotel was a hard NO. And so, before you book the Ambrosia Hotel in Athens Greece, I hope you read this. If you are looking for a safe (truly three star) comfortable, clean and safe hotel DO NOT BOOK WITH AMBROSIA SUITES. It was and is a VERY poor representation of a Beautiful City. The most I can do now, is to warn anyone considering staying there by giving this honest and accurate review. -First time to Athens, Canadian Traveller

I've lost count of the number of times I've stayed here. On this particular visit, Athens was stiflingly hot. So I'd booked the Melia due to its roof-top pool. Alas, others had the same idea - and for my final night in Athens they were demanding 350 e a night. A bit rich for a poor boy from South London. So I removed myself back to Ambrosia Suites for a more modest 55e in a suite. And was very pleased I did. I love the slightly retro decor and space. The rooms here are generally bigger than elsewhere. Aircon's good too. For dinner I wandered over to I Kriti, about 5 minutes' walk. An excellent "old school" Cretan restaurant. The immediate area around Omonia might appear challenging if you're visiting straight from bible class. Yet it's actually very safe. Certainly fewer pickpockets and scam artists than around Syntagma, Ermou and Plaka. Hold your head high, stride ahead; shoulders back with a sense of belonging and purpose and refuse any unwanted solicitations with a smile as you wish them a good day. You might come to prefer it.

This is an inner city hotel and it is a perfectly placed inner city hotel with pretty much everything you’ll want to see and do in Athens within walking distance. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the shower was hot every single time it was used, breakfast was simple but you can adequately start the day with it and there is a nice little space on first floor to sit and relax and the staff were all friendly so pretty much covers all bases for stay. The reason I headed review with Deceptive is because of the area it is in, on first impressions this is not a nice area and the driver of our transfer told us to be careful and I have to say I thought the same on arrival, though despite it not looking very welcoming and there being some very shady looking characters about I have to say I felt 100% safe. Nobody bothers you or approaches you or talks to you, my partner and mother in law both walked around on their own hassle free. So if you want an affordable perfectly situated city centre hotel then don’t pay attention to area and stay here.
