Dartmoor Lodge Hotel

The Dartmoor Lodge goes from strength to strength and we had a brilliant weekend. It’s in a great location and we had a happy time exploring the area. The staff went out of their way to make us feel welcome, our room was very comfortable and the food was fantastic. We hope very much to return - highly recommended.

Booked the Foxtor room for my husband's surprise 50th birthday. Plenty of buffet options available - the food was really nice and plenty of it. We were upgraded to the Haytor room as it wasn’t booked on our date. Room really nice and spacious. Staff are really friendly and helpful. Thanks guys - the party went amazingly.

We arranged for family and friends to attend a celebration of life of our Mum and accommodation with excellent food and service throughout our stay. We had the use of a private conference room for a full Devonshire afternoon cream tea with bubbly for her afternoon of memories. The staff were very accommodating and friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

What a disaster. Took 20 mins for drinks to arrive and when they did, they forgot half of them. Staff got in our faces when talking to us along with grabbing our shoulders and trying to be funny. Food was ok but not worth the money. Won’t be returning

This hotel is lovely, the staff attentive, quality of the food fabulous from the significant cooked breakfast to the evening meals as well as good choice of wines, gins and beers. Prices are what you would expect in a hotel of thus size and quality. The room was a little on the smaller size, but it was big enough with private bathroom. Really beautiful views from room and restaurant. It was clean, warm and airy, with the usual tea and coffee making facilities with the added biscuits. There are also toiletries and very nice towels. Plenty of plug sockets for charging phones, and bed side lights. Ample parking right by our room and its close to the A38. We had 4 meals whilst there, we both had the steak dinner, which was really good. We actually had the steak cooked to our liking, medium to rare. The portions are a good size. They cater for vegetarian and vegans too. Lovely place. Will stay here again when we're back down that way.

Great place to stay for a visit to the moors and surrounding area. Dog friendly is a big positive.Attentive staff, lovely clean rooms. Every option that you would want for breakfast. The restaurant menu is varied, good quality and excellent value for money. Good selection of beers and Cider on tap. They will soon have a large decked cocktail bar opening outside. Can't wait for my next visit.

Christmas day lunch underated by one hundred pounds. We paid £150 for three courses for the two of us. The turkey was good but the veg was under cooked & bland. Starters ok, desserts ok. No drinks on arrival included. Will not return again. Gone down hill. Diane please return & sort things out. You know how it works.

Lovely food.. never been before.. will definitely return. Had the wood pigeon starter.. 3 simple ingredients on the plate.. £9 but omg. Tasted amazing.then ham eggs and chips . Partner had lasagna. All beautiful.. chef made a peppercorn sauce.. like a black pepper meat gravy.. not usual look about it .. but amazing

Well, what a weekend. From the moment we arrived, we were greeted by Sandra who we’d booked with. We were in Ashburton on a cooking course so this was an ideal location. Our room was clean, warm and of a good size. Sam in the bar looked after us all weekend and the service was awesome, a true gentleman to boot. All the staff are a credit to the restaurant. Credit to both chefs on both nights. The food was absolutely outstanding. Highly recommend the squid, some of the best we’ve had in years. The seabass and the seafood gratin were excellent. Breakfast was fresh with plenty of choice. Overall, a great experience.
