Where do I start? OK, as they sing in The Sound of Music, let's start at the very beginning. Three adults needed 2 rooms for a night, so we booked what I think was described as a Junior Suite. Being the high summer season, it wasn't especially cheap. Not cheap at all in fact. On our arrival at reception, the staff were friendly and welcoming. It was pretty much all downhill from there. Our suite has 2 bedrooms, one with a double bed and one with 2 single beds. Moreover, the room is located directly opposite the reception desk, very near the main entrance. Yes you read that right: a suite, presumably a relatively luxurious room, right in the middle of the reception area. The room door is not ten feet away from the lift. You can hear the coming and going all the time. Now it is true that each bedroom also has its own door, but you might find yourself having to leave them open all night. That's because one bedroom has a small aircon unit, and the other has none. So if you want to try to get some cooling effect in both bedrooms, you will need to have both bedroom doors open. Why can't you open a window in the non-aircon room, I hear you say. Well you can, but the window is barely 3 feet above the outside seating for the restaurant, and there is a balcony with bright lights that make it very light in the room. So if you actually want to sleep, you'll have to leave the windows closed and hope that reception stays quiet overnight. ...and hope that the lift doesn't go anywhere overnight. And hope that the neighbouring rooms don't run any water overnight, because if they do, it makes a fearsome noise. The beds were not made up. OK, being generous, I could say they were half made up, with a sheet and one pillow each. There were no spare pillows to be found in the rooms. At the end of each bed was a folded-up duvet cover. Some duvets were roughly stuffed into a wardrobe. If you want to use one, you have to put it in a cover yourself. The décor is generally brown/orange/yellow with cheap-looking furniture clearly installed on a budget. Now to be fair the beds aren't bad. The pillows are on the firm side, which may not suit everyone. However in the airconned room there are no power sockets by the heads of the beads but only on the opposite wall, so unless you have a long extension lead, forget about having your phone by you during the night while charging it. In the early evening we wanted to get served with a coffee before heading out to meet a friend. We were directed to an outside seating area. We sat and waited. And waited. Staff were doing something with the tables. And ignoring us. We eventually asked one if they could bring us a coffee and we did get one. We used the swimming pool for a while and it was quiet and pleasant. It's not very big but it was mercifully quiet, probably because of the thunder and rain. But we were wet anyway and it was quite warm. The bathroom was clean. The shower though was something else. First of all it spray
