We stayed at Oskar hotel for 21 days to commute between Geneva and Annecy for medical and hospital visits. The housecleaning girls were so respectful and nice to us although some complained that they were overworked and underpaid so we tipped them. The kitchen lady, her daughter Mirlinda and Johan the evening guy were beyond amazing and made us feel at home the entire stay with their kindness, above and beyond and over extended customer service. However, the front desk receptionist Sonia (Spanish) followed us continuously for payments and was rude, unexperienced with absolutely no customer service knowledge (anything we asked her for she did not know and could not help). We had cleared it with her when we first arrived at the hotel that we are there on an extended medical stay that we can only pay cash as we collect the transferred funds weekly, she clearly told us that their credit card machine would not take our cards without a pin, (suggestion, maybe the hotel owner needs to upgrade their outdated computers and credit card machines to accommodate their international clients). On 3/14/2023, my wife and I bragged to the owner on how clean the hotel was and how nice and kind certain staff were. We also brought it to his attention on how we were treated rudely by Sonia and he did not even care to apologize but rather told us that those were his rules and his directions. That same morning, we needed to go to the bank to get the funds as we have done previously to pay the hotel. As we were approaching the door to leave, the owner rudely approached us threating and interrogating my wife and basically held us hostage at the hotel and told us that we could not leave unless we paid him right then and insisted that the hotel get paid before we go anywhere and sat in the lobby to make sure we did not leave, although our belongings were still in the room. My wife scrambled in her purse and gave him all the credit cards and cash that she had. First, he would not take cash or dollars, then after my wife went everywhere looking to change the dollars with no avail, he said he will take the dollars, meanwhile he started harassing and questioning my wife on a very personal and unprofessional level about our finances (how come if she was my wife why couldn’t she pay the hotel bill). We were never given any receipts for any of our payments! The worst experience for anyone on a terminal medical emergency situation to go through. We will never recommend this hotel or its very rude money hungry owner and will never even want to be anywhere near this hotel.
