Auberge du Lyonnais

My friend and I stayed in this hotel in June. We both agree that the rooms are very small, the beds and bathrooms/shower are also quite small. The hotel is stairwells only with no elevator and we experienced quite a challenge after we checked out. The hotel staff/management added a charge to our rooms for 3 cups they "claim" we stole during our stay. After spending over 400 per night at their hotel, they seem to believe that we would need to steal three 18 euro cups. They charged our credit card after check out and have started harassing us about these cups. We do not have any idea why they won't believe that we didn't steal these cups and why they won't back down but it is bonkers to think we couldn't afford them and that we would haul three cups all around France for our three week vacation. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere to save yourself from the headache of having to deal with a management staff that accuses guests who spend over 1300 Euros in their hotel of taking 3 cups worth 18 Euro each and to continue to harass us via email even when we tell them this simply isn't the case. They refuse to issue a refund for these cups. As such, I feel it is in our best interest to warn future customers of their terrible communication and business practices. Be forewarned about this and pick a different hotel in town. There are many to choose from.

Annecy itself is an absolute gem. What a beautiful historic town surrounded by a stunning view of the Alps sitting behind the sparkling lake. The hotel is in an ideal spot in the old town with plenty of shops and bars and cafes to try. However, this hotel is disgusting and although we plan on visiting Annecy again we certainly won't be staying here. This is a budget hotel to say the least, the price was cheap however I have stayed in plenty of budget hotels and although basic in their presentation they are usually at least cheerful and clean. This hotel is dark and dismal, the corridors smell funny, the room itself is dirty, even my ten year old was concerned about walking on the carpet! The carpet is old and stained and needs replacing, the curtains were hanging off, there was hooks for a shower curtain but no actual curtain on the hooks, we had half a toilet roll (if that) the one and only electric socket in the main room was coming away from the wall, the door handle in the bathroom is falling off, tiles missing, black stains in the toilet, the toilet brush - gross!!! Breakfast was ok but not really worth the money, was seated next to a lovely dusty window with cobwebs. The noise is horrendous on a night - it's on a main street so expected noise but this was from within the hotel - you can hear every door and voices carry very loudly. Just because it is a budget hotel doesn't mean you shouldn't have pride in your business!! Lots of maintenance work and a good old clean required here, such a shame for a lovely old building in the prime position of a gorgeous town! Definitely won't be coming to stay in this hotel again.

What a gem of a hotel. Room was a good size and the bed was very comfortable. The location, the food and the staff are outstanding. Breakfast was a delight with a very French feel. Dinner was a gastronomic experience with excellent quality food and wine. What really made the stay was the staff. They were friendly, helpful, attentive and we had lots of laughs as we practiced our evolving French. It was impressive to see the pre-dinner gathering of staff in a circle discussing the upcoming evening's plans. As someone who values great service it was a pleasure to witness this focus. Teamwork was evident as was the obvious engagement of staff with the guests. Well done.

Great breakfast included and perfect central location. Helpful staff and family run. Rooms a bit small and no elevator but location -also close to parking lot and all the action in the crowds. I really enjoyed the city itself as well. Lots of food and activities

Une expérience déplorable. Nous sommes allés dans ce restaurant et avons été très mal reçus. L’accueil a été glacial, presque méprisant. La responsable, qui se prend visiblement pour la propriétaire, s’est permise de nous parler avec un ton condescendant et irrespectueux, comme si le client n’avait aucun droit. J’ai même essuyé un refus injustifié et complètement déplacé. C’est inadmissible de traiter les gens de cette manière. Je déconseille fortement cet endroit : il y a assez de restaurants dans le coin où l’on sait encore ce que le mot respect veut dire.

Cocktails très bons, il manquait juste quelques petites choses à grignoter. Repas et service correct. Tarifs appliqués un peu excessifs tout de même que ce soit pour l'apéritif ou le repas !!
