We of course respect your right to criticism, but we wanted to make some important factual clarifications in order to re-establish a fair image of our establishment for readers. Regarding the condition of our rooms and common areas, we would like to point out that maintenance and refreshment work is carried out every year. What you may think of as tattered carpets are centuries-old Gobelins tapestries, and the wallpaper in your room comes from the Offard workshops in Tours and is handmade with natural pigments. And while a few paint chips may occasionally appear on the woodwork in the bedrooms, this does not justify the description “in need of massive renovation”. A 16th century château is necessarily “dated”, as you point out, and that's part of its charm. We don't want to make it as modern and impersonal as a standardized hotel from the big hotel chains, but we understand that some customers are not sensitive to this. Some bathrooms are equipped with a bathtub without a curtain, an aesthetic choice that does not detract from its comfort. As far as towels are concerned, we supply one large towel, one small towel, one bathrobe and one bath mat per person, renewable daily on request. With regard to breakfast, we are also surprised by several of your statements: all the products served are fresh. The pastries and bread are baked each morning, the scrambled eggs are cooked on site, the cakes are homemade, the dairy products come from a neighboring farm and we also offer local apple juice and orange juice, never canned. As for the meat you mention, we don't serve beef for breakfast. It was probably pork rillons, a local specialty, which can be eaten hot or cold. The coffee machine at our disposal offers a varied choice (espresso, café au lait, cappuccino, moccaccino...), well above the average for hotel establishments. We do, of course, offer filter coffee for those who are not sensitive to freshly ground coffee beans. We're a long way from Holiday Inn and Starbuck's. Finally, we regret that at no time did you share these feelings on site with our reception team, who are always available to resolve any immediate dissatisfaction. No reports were made during your stay, which makes your review all the more surprising. That said, we're delighted that you enjoyed our location as well as the welcome from our team and the exterior of the establishment.

Concerning the smell, we user Baobab candles and parfums in all the hôtel, which is an international luxury brand. Sorry if you didn't like it . Concerning decoration, you arrived during halloween week so all the reception was decorated with things in connection with, I think there was a misunderstanding . Best regards
