First, the good news. At least to the extent that anything about staying here is “good.” The positive is that the location is an easy on/off Interstate 40. Now . . . The photo of the entrance makes the property look inviting. But when a guest walks through that front entrance into the reception area, what’s noticeable is an odor of cleaning agent and/or room freshener that is overwhelming. Obviously, they are trying to mask the smell of something! Not good. Don’t worry about having breakfast in this area while whiffing a stench because breakfast is not offered. The mats outside the room doors are ratty and many are ripped. The property should just throw them out., as they create a bad suggestion of what might be inside. The carpet in the room I occupied was dirty, as were the sheets and one pillow case. The items looked to have such wear that I’d guess they can’t be properly cleaned. Everything in the room and bathroom is very old and way beyond its useful life. The shower water was barely hot enough for a comfortable shower. The ice machine may make ice but it does not dispense it, so assistance from the front desk is necessary to scoop out the ice. In terms of “overnight experience,” the worst factor is that this place is NOISY. San Matteo is a busy street and the drivers are wizzing by all night. The sound of the traffic awakened my wife and me throughout the night. Albuquerque is suffering from a sizable population of people without homes living on the streets . Many of them are in the area of this property. Accordingly, everything is locked almost all the time. In this area, even the restaurants lock the rest rooms INSIDE the restaurant! If you walk to a nearby restaurant, you are likely to be pan-handled. Move on . . .
