I would absolutely not recommend this place to anyone in the future, upon arrival we were hit with a 50 euro deposit per person. To follow up on the air con it cost another 20 euro, we ended up having to go to the pharmacy as the aircon made many of us very unwell and ill during our stay. Throughout our stay we had many ants and cockroaches around our room and they did nothing to solve this. Our electricity cut out every 30 minutes and went and spoke to reception and they told us to fix it ourselves and did nothing to fix this. Our boiler broke after 3 nights leaving us with freezing cold water for the rest of our stay making showers very uncomfortable. The woman that was on reception on arrival was very angry and rude and didn’t seem to welcome us to our place upon arrival. Overall I would highly recommend not going to stay in this place for anyone looking to go.

Stayed in a one bedroom apartment with my friend. It was clean, spacious, and a separate pool at our apartment block (block 2). There were ants in our kitchen but it didn’t bother us that much as we weren’t using it. Also the oven doesnt work. One morning during our stay 2 men came knocking on our door saying they needed in to our apartment to fix the wifi/tv. We didn’t know whether this was real so we closed the door and rang reception to ask. It turns out they were here to fix the wifi/tv but reception never let us know about this. A heads up would have been appreciated as we were two young ladies in the apartment alone and people coming knocking on the door wanting in unexpectedly was a bit scary. The hotel is located on the edge of the town so we got taxis a lot of the time. My advice is to use the Bolt app as it is cheapest. €3.65 (sometimes more) to old town or new town *****, even at night. There was a Spar about a 10 min walk which we used, there was also an Aldi about 15 min walk away. Albuferia is very hilly so going one way is fine to walk but the uphill back isn’t so nice. The area the apartments are located is quiet. €20 deposit needed for aircon/tv remote. Overall we had a decent enough experience here and it was fair for the price we paid. We would probably rate 3.5 stars.

Got there quite early and rooms ready at 3pm. Lovely bar and main pool. Food very good, prices average for both food and drinks. Bar staff fantastic. Had a couple of good nights with Karaoke. Rooms large, in need of refurb. We were in block 3 around the corner. Did not cook or buy food as I left a small pack of biscuits on the worktop when we arrived, and within 20 mins it was covered in ants. Had breakfast in the hotel and ate out. Taxi needed to get into town. 5 euros to new ***** ( like Benidorm) or 8 euros to the old ***** which is lovely. Use Uber. Download the app. All in all not a bad week but would have been cheaper if we cooked a few times.

3 of us came to the Choromar Apartments for a girls holiday, we are 3 girls in our early twenties. We also came to Albufeira last year and loved it so much we decided to come again. There’s loads of nightlife in the old town and new town and it’s a very good night out. Last year we stayed at the Janelos Do Mar Hotel but it was coming out about £200 more expensive this year so we looked through reviews and did some digging and settled on the Choromar Apartments, what a mistake that was. I’ll start by saying this, when we booked this hotel the reviews were decent, we booked in Jan 2024 for August 2024, I am a teacher so have to go in the summer holidays, and reviews all seemed positive, we weren’t expecting 5* luxury as that is not what we had booked. Between January and August the reviews went downhill. The thing is, we did spent a fair bit of money on this hotel, it’s not as if we paid £300 for a weeks holiday, if that was the case I would expect low quality as you get what you pay for, but we paid almost £600 each for the week self catered. Right I will start at the beginning of the week, as soon as we arrived to the hotel the receptionist was incredibly rude and dismissive, we had to pay €50 deposit each which is standard in these kind of places so that was fine. We arrived around 11am and check in was 4pm, on arrival the receptionist told us that the people in our apartment had checked out early so we would be able to check in early. We put our bags in the luggage hold which was actually just some lockers at the side of the hotel kitchen.. strange… and got on with our day. At around 2pm we double checked about our room and she said she would come and find us when it was ready, again she was incredibly rude to us. The pool in the main hotel was fine, however there was a major lack of sunbeds and the toilets were very small and a bit gross. The hotel bar did decent priced drinks and food but the smell coming out of it was vile, it actually made us gip everytime we walked through it. Finally at around 3.30pm she came and found us and told us we could check in. She explained to us that we were in a different apartment block which was past the White House and up the hill, this was the only information she gave us along with the key, so we set off with our 3 20kg cases (keep that in mind), and walked to block 29 which took approx 4 mins. When we got there we kept trying to press the button for the lift and it would not work, a man also staying in this block told us the lift was out of order and had been his entire stay, but she never mentioned this to us and there was no sign stuck on the lift. We were going to go to reception to say something but considering how rude she had been beforehand we decided to just suck it up, and we had to lug the 20kg cases to the fourth floor on our own.. (this was 59 steps). As soon as we got up we were knackered and the aircon didn’t appear to be working, so we rang reception and explained the lift was out of

Me and my two friends have recently left this complex and I can tell you, it is the worst complex I have ever stayed in. We are a group of 3 girls in our twenties, and although we did not book this for the glitz and glam, we expected more than this. Just a pre warning, we read the reviews when we booked this hotel and they weren’t bad at all, and secondly, it wasn’t like it was a major cheap holiday, we paid nearly 2 grand in total to stay here for a week self catering, so bare that in mind. We arrived at the apartment at around 11am in the morning after an early flight. Upon arrival, we was met with an extremely rude reception lady who told us we can’t check into our rooms until 4pm. However, the receptionist did make us aware that the previous people staying in the apartment had left early so we was able to check in early. We were able to leave our suitcases in a locker and use the apartment facilities whilst we waited to check in. The pool area in the main apartment was nice, however there were no sunbeds available even by 11am so had to wait around for the sunbeds to be available. At around 2pm, we went to reception to see if there was an update on the room and the receptionist snapped at us and said no I said I will come find you. At 3;45pm, the receptionist came over to tell us our room was ready. She told us the apartment we were staying in, was not in the grounds itself, and that we had to walk to the apartment from the hotel. The apartment was down the road, then up the hill and took around 5 minutes to get to our block. We were in room 403, which was the top floor, so we went to the lift to take our cases up and the lift didn’t appear to work. A young man walked past and said the lift hadn’t worked all holiday so we would have to take the stairs. We had to climb up 59 steps with 3 x 20kg suitcases. The apartment itself was nice and big, and fairly clean. We went to turn the aircon on and couldn’t find out how. We rang reception to say we couldn’t work out how to use the aircon and that the lift wasn’t working. The rude receptionist told us we had to go back to reception to get the aircon remote, which will be a €20 deposit and that we had to wait 20 minutes for the turnover of staff and then she hung up the phone. We went to reception around 45 minutes later and a new lady was on the reception, who was equally as rude. We told her the lift wasn’t working and she said it is fixed, and we made her aware it wasn’t and then she changed the story to say it was going to be fixed. We paid the €20 for our aircon and got our remote. With regard to the location of the apartment, there is nothing around. Everything is about 20/25 minute walking difference so we got taxi’s to new town and old town, and also to LIDL/ALDI to do a food shop With us being self catering, we went to Aldi to do a food shop when we arrived. We got back to the apartment and put the oven on so we could cook our food that we had gotten, and after a while we noticed the oven

The place itself is nice but very badly run. They allow groups of teenagers to use the place as an extension of the nightclubs and they do nothing about the excessive noise and drunken behaviour. The manager is extremely rude and abrupt and unhelpful. They take deposits for TV and air conditioning remotes and you have to pay extra to use your room safe and other things. DO NOT BOOK HERE IF YOU WANT TO RELAX OR GET A GOOD NIGHTS SLEEP.

Very disappointed first night the next door window apartment window got smashed in at 5 am and then few days into the holiday when we came home from our night out about 11pm we returned to our balcony and front door wide open , and my daughter was scared to sleep in the room the remaining holiday as she kept thinking someone was coming in , the cleaners had nt shut the door . Also it states that it’s suitable for family’s and it’s more like a 18-30 . Can’t knock the cleanliness and towels everyday and the staff x

If you're thinking of a girls holiday here - read on and I'll give you the full rundown. We went on a girls holiday - booked through Easyjet Holidays - all of us aged 21-23 from Ireland. Location: Albufeira as a destination is great - you've got the old town and the new town, both strips have different things to offer. However, this hotel is a wee bit out from where everything is. You need to get taxis to and from both strips as there isn't a lot in walking distance - reception will always order a taxi for you when asked and ubers are easy to get - just make sure you put your seatbelt on, some drivers are a bit rough! 30-40 min from Faro airport - we booked our own transfer on the way back and cancelled the easyjet one in fear of big queues at the airport. Reception can sort a transfer for you at a fixed rate. Rooms: For a girls holiday - it does the job. The rooms are spacious and you've got clean bathrooms with working showers and toilets - which is the main thing. The beds are comfortable and the rooms are cleaned 3x a week. As per previous reviews on here - you will inevitably find ants. We never complained about them as I don't think there's much they can do about that. They didn't bother us much - talc powder seems to scare them away! We had a pool view balcony and it was lovely. They will provide towels in the rooms, but we brought our own to avoid having to pay some kind of deposit for extras. Bring an extension lead - it's the best hack. There is wifi at the restaurant - we stayed in Block 3 and it reached up to our rooms but not sure if this would be the same for everyone. Get your mobile data sorted before you go. There is aircon but you have to pay a deposit. We just stuck it out without the aircon. Deposits will start to add up after a while - we don't agree with having to give all your money away for rooms, aircon, towels etc. Pools: There are two pools - a quieter pool and the main one beside the bar. We always went to the quieter one and really loved it. Was great and handy for us - especially as there is no beach within walking distance. If you're going to main pool - get up early for sunbeds. Food: The food at the hotel bar is cheap and lovely. They do breakfast/lunch stuff and it's all reasonably priced. Ice creams too and plenty of alcohol selection. The bar staff were always lovely and accommodating. There is karaoke most nights and the entertainers are great craic. Staff: The ladies on reception were always kind, accommodating and helpful. The main problem we had was in the evening when the male security team were on shift. It was recommended to us that we leave our keys in at reception when going on a night out, and then collect them when we return. Most nights it was fine to say 'can we collect room x's key please' and we'd get it back, but one night we had two security men - one in particular with a really horrible, rude attitude - who repeatedly claimed he couldn't find our key and that we'd have to pay 20 E

Nice pool and bar area which is clean and staff were friendly. We stayed in block 3 and it was average at best, beds were fine but the apartment was infested with ants, even the bathroom and kitchen, ants were coming from behind the walls, no fault of our own either. Kitchen very dated and the cooker was really slow making it impossible to cook anything. Apart from the ants which was an awful experience, this place does the job, but not exactly luxurious.
