Having cycled about 60km, and the latter part in the rain, we turned up soaked and dripping. The receptionist was on the phone, so we stood for a good 5 mins or so waiting for her to finish her call. We were wet through and asked if there was somewhere we could dry our clothes. She hesitated outside a room beside reception where we could clearly hear a tumble dryer, but she then said that there wasn't anywhere to dry them (we were literally dripping). Our room was supposed to be 'superior', but it was frankly depressing and dingy. We could appreciate that the nature of a trullo is to have little or no windows/ light but the furnishings in the room were outdated and very basic. It cost an extra 10 euros to use the hob! The hot water ran out after my friend had her shower, so I was left to have a cold one. Not great, especially after a day cycling in the rain. Cereals were provided in the room, yet no milk. There was a kettle, (a welcome addition, as not all hotels in Italy have them) and teabags etc., but without any milk we had to make do with black tea. On the upside the beds were comfortable and the rooms clean. Breakfast was provided in a nearby cafe and was rather chaotic as there were limited seats and tables and a lot of guests being catered for. Not the nicest of breakfasts. Would not rate this hotel as 4* and dread to think what a standard room would have been like!
