I just returned from a three night stay at this hotel with my girlfriend and our teenage daughter. We have been countless times in S. Miguel as we consider it such a pleasant and beautiful island. This time we opted for a hotel outside the main towns and in fact we managed to do just that. At the same time it is only 20 minutes away from the airport and 15 minutes away from Ponta Delgada or Ribeira Grande, the two main towns. We already visited the nine islands of the Azores archipelago and always get a rental car at the airport (exception at Corvo Island). If you are staying in this hotel, it is paramount that you do the same. As to the hotel itself, we booked it only four weeks in advance on high season, thus we had to pay the full rate of the stay at that moment. Upon check-in on room 206, we were given two identical cards without any distinctive element, one to open the door and the other to insert into the slot for lightening. That is odd, generally, hotels give two identical keys to open the door and one of them, if necessary can be left on the slot when we are out. We were assigned a spacious accommodation with living room, bedroom and bathroom. We did not have sea view and the living room had lots of glass walls overlooking the adjacent condo. All those glasses made it very hot on the sun shining days and we had to keep the AC on during the day. The décor of the room was unstylish and lacking attention to details. The bedroom had a big closet but no clothes rail or hangers. Besides that, one of the doors of the closet could not be opened fully, because it bumped into the shelves that are installed as bedside tables. The safe was old style, that is to say, it closes with a key that we had to ask for at the reception at no charge, along with a cumbersome key ring that we had to take with us whenever we were out of the room. The living room had a well equipped kitchen, that we did not use but it was constantly patrolled by half a dozen ants. We had bought previously some good looking fruits and had to fill a big dish with water and in the middle of it we put a small dish with our fruit so that the ants weren’t able to cross the water in order to get to fruit island. The bathroom was very spacious and pleasant looking even if the washbasin was more stylish than efficient. This room lacked tremendously of a place to put one´s belongings (toothbrush, toothpaste, comb, electrical razor and so on). Amazingly no one foresaw the installation of a shelf. The social areas of the hotel such as the lobby are, again, unstylish, corridors have shabby carpeting. The room where breakfast is served has a view to an outside wall and lacks natural lightening. Breakfast itself has a reasonable variety of items, but by no means is it worth 12 euro per person per day, that in our case we were asked to paid in advance, precisely at the same moment we made the reservation. The team at White made us feel instantly at home, we were welcomed and well taken care of for the entirety of our stay. We’ve fallen in love with Sao Miguel and it’s all thanks to each person at White. Every day we’d get personalised recommendations on where to go, what to see and what to avoid to make the most of our time on the island. Communication was effortless as the team gave us a phone to talk to them with - very responsive and helpful every time we spoke. The suite was beautiful and uncluttered with rich details and textures - a real calm retreat after a day filled with lots of sites and scenery. Every person that works at White are friendly, helpful and accommodating even our airport pickup created such a wonderful impression. This was by far our most favourite part of our holiday. Thank you to Sandra (for helping us arrange a rental car and welcoming us to white), João (for personalised tips on where to go on the island), Rodrigo (for making a proper martini and chatting to my husband for hours while I was resting and recovering from a flu) and each and everyone of you for treating us so special during our stay. Wir haben 5 Nächte in diesem Hotel verbracht. Gehen wir eins nach dem anderen. Zimmer: Es gab keine Abgasanlage in der Toilette. Der Geruch der Bettwäsche war seit dem ersten Tag schrecklich. Das Design war schön. Reinigungsservice war ein Witz... Wir mussten bis zu dreimal nachfragen, um das Zimmer zu machen... Jeder Tag war ein Drama, wenn man wusste, wann es fertig war. Frühstück: Ein 5 Sterne Hotel hat ein so schlechtes Frühstück nicht verdient. Orangensaft war nicht einmal frisch. Spanischer Schinken war schrecklich (wirklich schlechte Qualität und Bäckerei ... einfach sprachlos) Restaurant: Extrem kurze Auswahl an Gerichten. Auch hier nicht auf dem erwarteten Niveau eines 5-Sterne-Hotels. Ausstattung: Viele Zimmer waren noch nicht fertig und noch nicht fertig gebaut. Umgebung ist echt hässlich.... Zusätzliche Kommentare: Wir haben viele Paare und Familien gesehen, die an der Rezeption gebucht hatten und kein Zimmer verfügbar war ... Das Hotel bot andere Zimmer in anderen Hotels in 17 km Entfernung an! ! Wir gingen zum Pool (Billard) und es gab eine Undichtigkeit an der Decke... Ein neues Hotel mit Undichtigkeit??? Zusammenfassend, das Beste an diesem Hotel war das Personal. . . Die Armen, die versucht haben, alle Brände zu ”löschen”, die vom Hotel- und Hotelmanagement verursacht wurden. Besonders das Personal an der Rezeption: Thx für Ihr Bestes! Ich biete 3/5 Sterne, weil ich glauben möchte, dass sie all diese Probleme in kurzer Zeit beheben werden und bis dahin gut sein wird.

Wir haben das Hotel über Booking.com für 75 Euro DZ/FR gebucht für zwei Tage vor unserer Kreuzfahrt mit der MS Hamburg und waren begeistert. Von außen sieht es nicht besonders schön aus, aber innen hat es ein gemütliches und schönes Design mit leichtem asiatischem Touch. Der Garten im Innenhof des Hotels ist ebenfalls sehr schön angelegt. Insgesamt war das ein unglaublich gutes Preis-Leistungsverhältnis. Wir würden dieses Hotel auch unseren Freuden empfehlen. Lage und Umgebung: Das Hotel liegt 10-15 Minuten Fußweg von der Innenstadt entfernt. Die direkte Umgebung ist nicht besonders erwähnenswert. Zimmer: Die Zimmer waren nicht besonders groß, allerdings schön eingerichtet. Das Badezimmer verfügte über eine Badewanne. Für uns ein Pluspunkt. Service: Kein Grund zu Beschwerde. Alles in Ordnung. Gastronomie: Beim Frühstück gab es mehr Qualität statt Quantität. Auch mit einigen lokalen Produkten der Azoren. Freizeitangebote: Pool, Innenpool, Tennisplatz und Fitnessraum haben wir gesehen, aber nicht genutzt. Der Innenpool könnte aber schöner eingerichtet sein. Der wirkte sehr steril.

This apart-hotel complex is absolutely beautiful, flowering bushes everywhere with a lovely scent. Our apartment was large and airy and had a great private terrace on the first floor (2nd floor if you’re North American). It really was a home from home with a full dining area with table and chairs and lounge area with sofa, soft rug and tv. The main double bedroom was upstairs with an anteroom having a sofa/pull out bed for children or guests 3&4. Lots of storage in the bedroom but there was a distinct lack of hangers in the wardrobe but loads of drawer space. The kitchen is adequate enough for simple meals (no oven) with a twin hob and microwave, kettle and toaster, and a selection of pots and pans. We managed really well. The hotel provides breakfast 8am - 10am if you want it at 12euros per person. We didn’t try this option. Housekeeping are amazing and come every day! Everything is clean and beds are made. Towels can be changed daily if you like. For a self-catering holiday we found that a lot was provided in the apartment for us: washing up liquid, washing up sponge, washing up cloth and a tea towel. These are replenished and changed as needed. There is also toilet roll, shower gel and hand wash provided in the bathroom which was lovely - again, replenished when needed or on request. The complex gardens are beautiful and well-tended. The pool looked lovely and well-cared for, however we didn’t try it out. There seems to be a hot tub in a wooden building off the pool area - we took a look but it was grubby and the water had floating debris. I’m sure they would have sorted it out if we had asked, but we were out and about discovering the island every day. You definitely need to hire a car for the duration of your stay here as there isn’t any bus route nearby and taxis would be very expensive to get around the island. HANDY TIP: If you’re picking up your hire car on landing at the airport and driving to Quinta da Santana - to get into the complex there is an electronic gate that requires a remote control. When you first arrive, drive past the big metal gate and find the next smaller (pedestrian) gate. Put the hazard lights on in the car and get out to ring the bell. This alerts reception who will come and open the gate for you or just give you a remote straight away so you can drive into the complex. We had a horrendous time of looking and looking and going around and around the roads trying to find the entrance!! We didn’t know about the need to ring the pedestrian gate bell (face palm!) The reception staff are lovely and very accommodating and speak English very well. I’m not sure what other languages they can speak. The area that Quinta da Santana is situated in is the one fly in the ointment….it seems really run down and the road they are situated on is all full of industrial buildings and commercial businesses. Further exploration within Santana uncovers the grubbier side of agricultural life with its local working class community.

Das Zimmer war überholt mit älteren Möbeln, Betten usw. Kein Kühlschrank im Zimmer für Getränke und Snacks zu kalt. Der Lobby/Bar/Café war schön und der Pool und der Patio sind sehr schön. Das Frühstücksbuffet war sehr gut. Die Fassade des Gebäudes und das Gebäude auf der anderen Seite des Pools benötigen einen Gesichtslift mit frischem Gemälde und Reparaturen.

Die Lage des Hotels für Ausflüge ist perfekt. Aber man braucht dringend ein Auto. Parkplätze sind vor dem Hotel genug vorhanden. Das Zimmer war sauber und groß. Das Bad hat ein großes Fenster ins Zimmer, dass man mit einem Rollo aber auch verschließen kann. Das Frühstück war lecker. Abendessen würde ich nicht empfehlen, hier gibt es deutlich bessere nicht weit entfernt. Der Pool draußen ist nicht beheizt und daher kalt. Drinnen ist es eher ein Kinderpool von der Tiefe her. Es gibt noch eine kleine Sauna und Dampfbad im Poolbereich. Die Massagen im SPA waren angenehm.

Das Hotel ist ein ziemlich neues und sauberes Hotel, aber das Personal hat unsere Erfahrung leider vernichtet. Die Profis: - Neue große Zimmer - Kleine, aber saubere Badezimmer - Kostenloses Frühstück - Kostenlose Parkplätze - Zentrale Lage (nicht eine große Stadt) - Komfortable Bed Die Kons: - Personal dort zu tun, um nur ein Minimum zu tun und machen Sie sich wie Sie sie stören - kein Frühstück halb ein Stunden vor dem Ende - Linke auf Kaffee beim Frühstück - Sie können alles durch die Vordertür zu allen Zimmern zu hören, oben, unten und neben Ihnen, Glück, ohne Ohrschleifen zu schlafen - Kein Wasser oder etwas im Zimmer außer Tee Ankunft auf einem 6am-Flug unsöhnlich von Toronto zu beobachten und in einem Blick erzählte Zimmer werden nicht bereit bis 2pm, keine Ausnahmen. Ich habe alle ein paar Stunden gefragt, als wir auf den Stuhl im Lobby eingefroren waren, und man sagte nur, dass es voll ist und dass ein weniger lautes Zimmer verfügbar wäre, wenn wir es (kleiner, kleiner Bett und gegenüber der Straße) nehmen wollen, zu dem wir nein gesagt haben, Als wir leichte Schlafer sind. Sie würden uns sagen, wann das Zimmer bereit war, aber nein, nachdem ich unter dem explosiven AC in einem Stuhl geschlafen habe, bin ich krank, starr und das Zimmer war verfügbar, aber die Dame am Vordertisch hatte besser zu tun als mir zu sagen. Sie hätte uns zumindest Frühstück mit warmem Kaffee angeboten, aber nicht, Null-Anstrengungen gemacht. Am nächsten Morgen, eine halbe Stunde vor dem Schließen, gab es kein Brot übrig oder geschrotet Eier. Als wir sie fragten, sagten sie, es war vorbei, während wir zwei Kochen in der Küche machen geschrotet Eier, aber offensichtlich nicht für Gäste ... Dies war die allgemeine Erfahrung während des gesamten Aufenthalts. Das Beste war beim Checkout, dass man gefragt wurde, ob wir die Flasche Wasser im Zimmer trinken. Erstens, gab es nicht, ironisch, würden sie uns auch dafür belasten? Wohnen Sie an anderer Stelle, gibt es schönere Hotels und Innen, einige in der Nähe der Wasserstraße und Restaurants.

Ich kann leider nichts zum Aufenthalt und so zur Qualität schreiben, ich bin nicht reingekommen. Aber ich bin vor dem Hotel bei der Buchung abgezockt worden. Ich hatte bereits Ende August 2019 über Expedia für eine geplante Azorenreise im Juli / August 2020 gebucht, 4 Nächte bei der Ankunft, 1 Nacht vor dem Rückflug, dazwischen wollte ich nach Horta. Allerdings habe ich erst durch die Buchungsbestätigung erfahren, dass die Buchung nicht stornier- und änderbar ist. Im Juni 2020 wurden wegen Corona einige meiner Flüge gecancelt, ich konnte also die Reise nicht antreten. Auf eine Rückfrage beim Hotel, ob es möglich ist, die Buchung um ein Jahr zu verschieben wurde mir geantwortet grundsätzlich ja, aber ich müsse das über Expedia machen. Habe ich getan, die Buchung wurde auf 2021 verschoben, allerdings mit einer saftigen Preiserhöhung. Dieses Jahr ist die Reise wieder nicht möglich, einerseits durch die Reisewarnung des Auswärtigen Amtes, von nicht notwendigen Reisen auf die Azoren abzusehen, andererseits durch die Ein-, Weiter- und Rückreisebestimmungen der Fluggesellschaft (SATA Azores International Airlines) sowie der Regionalregierung der Azoren. Ich wäre so gut wie den ganzen Aufenthalt über gezwungen gewesen, mich permanent testen zu lassen. Weiterhin, ich wollte 3 Inseln besuchen, jede Insel hat aber ihre eigenen Coronavorschriften. Ich sah mich deshalb zu meinem Bedauern gezwungen, Expedia zu bitten, die Buchung coronabedingt zu stornieren. Expedia wollte sich mit dem Hotel in Verbindung setzen, nach einem Tag eine Mail, das Hotel habe mitgeteilt, eine Rückzahlung wäre nicht möglich. Ich habe Expedia gebeten, beim Hotel rückzufragen, ob eine erneute Verschiebung um ein Jahr möglich ist. Expedia hat per Mail darum gebeten, doch aus good will der Verschiebung zum aktuellen Tagespreis zuzustimmen, Antwort des Hotels: man ist dazu nicht bereit (Expedia hat mir den E-Mail-Verkehr mit dem Hotel weitergeleitet). Ich habe daraufhin dem Hotel selbst eine Mail geschickt und mich nach dem Grund für diese Haltung erkundigt. Ich habe außerdem daran erinnert, dass Deutschland Anfang des Jahres, als Portugal die höchsten Coronazahlen in ganz Europa hatte, geholfen hat, ob so nun die portugiesische Dankbarkeit aussieht. Antwort: keine. Ich werde in Kürze 70, ich reise seit gut 50 Jahren rund um die Welt, ich habe gerade mit Hotels meine Erfahrungen gemacht, positive und negative, aber etwas derart Dreistes habe ich noch nie erlebt. Das Hotel hat, ohne irgendeine Leistung, für überhaupt nichts 435,80 € kassiert. Das nenne ich Abzocke in Corona-Zeiten!
