I'm always surprised to find that, decades after passage of the ADA, new buildings still make it hard for you to get in the door. The hotel had double sets of doors that weren't automatic and had no automatic door openers; it took 2 people to get a bell cart into or out of the lobby - 1 to open the doors, 1 to push the cart. We weren't the only ones having that issue but if any Marriott staff noticed, they didn't offer to help. The hotel had a big banner near the check-in desk claiming that Morgantown welcomes everyone; it's not very welcoming if it's a struggle just to get the door open. (We may have been spoiled by the staff at the Raphael in Kansas City, another Marriott property; they had bellmen by the door 24/7 to open doors and help you with luggage.) The main entrance is poorly lit and poorly marked; after a long day's driving, we had trouble finding the correct entrance in the dark. Parking cost $12/night, which is notated in tiny print on the home page. The indoor pool looked nice; unfortunately, we checked in too late and left too early the next morning to get to use it. That was disappointing, as the indoor pool was a key reason we booked this hotel for our overnight. Our room left a bit to be desired. It was big and had a nice view of the river, but the only lighting bright enough to read by was over the door and in the shower. However, there was *lots* of ambient light once we turned off the lights - even the electrical outlets had little glowing lights on them. You can drape a washcloth or something over the phone and microwave displays, but not on a wall outlet. There wasn't much storage space, and most of it was smallish open cubicles, not drawers. The bathroom was big and had decent counterspace, but the mirror wasn't sufficiently wel lit for doing your makeup. There was a hook in the shower but no hook or towel bar outside the shower to put a robe or towel. The bathroom door was barndoor style, installed crooked (see photos). The main room door stuck; we had to push or pull it to make sure it closed all the way. Dinner at the restaurant was overpriced but good. I ordered the caprese flatbread, thinking I was getting a caprese salad (I was too tired to read the menu carefully); it was quite good, as was the french onion soup. My husband's filet came out medium-rare rather than the medium-well he'd ordered. We opted for the breakfast buffet the next morning. I always appreciate having real (rather than instant) oatmeal available and most of the fruit was neither under- nor overripe, although the coffee was too strong to be drinkable.

I admittedly glanced through my Hilton app and reserved this room for my daughter's travel ball tournament to be held at WVU this weekend without checking reviews. I did so, because I use the app frequently and have never had a bad experience at Hampton/Hilton without it being quickly resolved in a professional manner. This was the closest Hampton to the Rec Center @ WVU so I booked it. From the time I walked in, I noticed the cleanliness of the hotel was lacking. There was sticky stuff on the floor along with when I got out of the elevator and I kept going to our room because we had been driving several hours and I figured that our room would have the Hilton Cleanstay. Boy, was I wrong! The room smelled bad as soon as I opened the door. The beds were made. I sat our things down and began to unpack. I immediately noticed the bathroom floor was dirty and the bathtub was also dirty. There is a broken nut in the toilet. Later I learned that my bedspread had several stains on it and I found myself unable to sleep. I am not one to cause a fuss and try very hard to make do with what I have. I unsucessfully tried sleeping through the night and finally went down to the front desk at 5 am to ask if I could please have a new room. The lady at the front desk was immediately dismissive, confrontational, and said I should have said something last night. While, yes, I of course should have looking back, I don't think it was my fault the room was not cleaned. I will skip the other details here, which ended up in her telling me she would tell her manager when she came in and they would have the room cleaned for me by 9. I came back to my room at 3 pm after our matches and my bedspread was changed but the floor and tub were still nasty. I went back downstairs. A new receptionist was there. I asked for a new room, she said they're all dirty and said she would send housekeeping up when they could. We waited in our room and a gentleman came up, granted the nicest person I have encountered while here, and he said the dirty bathroom was from wood glue and he cleaned and disinfected the best he could. I am stuck here until tomorrow because this reservation cost me over $300. I wish I had seen the other recent reviews. Please do not waste your money coming here. Not to mention some sort of sediment is in the sinks, toilet, and tub, so I definitely would not eat or drink the water/coffee here. If I am able to leave my photos on the review later, I will attach them. In the meantime, please listen to the other reviews + my own because you will undoubtedly regret it due to the lacking customer service + basic empathy for another human + lack of housekeeping in this building. I never leave reviews, but this establishment blew my mind.

Bei der Suche nach meinem Wahlmotel sah ich mehrere Bewertungen, dass dieser Ort schmutzig war. Meine Badezimmer war etwas schmutzig und das Zimmer sah etwas alt aus, aber nicht schrecklich. Allerdings erwarten Sie, dass Ihr Zimmer bei der Eincheckung sauber sein wird. Der Kundenservice fehlt schwer, obwohl der Haupteingang geschlossen wurde und ein Zeichen hatte, das mich zu einer anderen Tür richtete. Die Tür war geschlossen. Nicht sehr willkommen für die Gäste. Meine größte Frage war am nächsten Morgen. Meine Toilette war gebrochen und würde nicht flussieren, so ging ich zum Vordertafel. Die schwarze alte Frau würde nicht einmal aufsehen, bis ich guten Morgen sagte. Auch dann war es, als ob ich sie störte, weil ich ihre Arbeit unterbrochen habe. Als ich ihr über das Toilette erzählte, sagte sie, dass sie die Wartungsinformationen übermitteln würde. Dann ein paar Sekunden später sagte sie mir, dass, wenn ich ”die Kommodore benötigen”, ich ihre Kolben benötigen würde. Ich sagte ihr, dass ich eine für eine vollen Nachtgebühr zahle, ich sollte nicht meine eigene Wartung durchführen. Sie hat das zurückgeworfen ”Es gibt nichts, was ich tun kann”, weil die Wartungsperson nicht da war. Dies war während der Arbeitszeit um 8:30 Uhr, nicht wie es war 3AM. Ich sagte ihr dann, mir einen Schlüssel zu einem ungebetenen Zimmer zu geben, da das Schlafzimmer im Halle war auch aus der Ordnung (große Wartungsarbeiten SMH). Klar beunruhigt, gab sie mir einen Schlüssel und sagte nichts anderes als ”Ich brauche ihn zurück” ASAP. Als ich ins Zimmer kam, sah ich, dass es klar verwendet wurde. Ich hoffte, dass jemand gerade herausgecheckt hatte und niemand wieder reingekommen würde. Niemand, aber das Zimmer war offensichtlich nicht gereinigt/saniert, so dass das Problem hinzugefügt wurde. Als ich endlich herausgecheckt wurde, sie hat nicht einmal auf mich angeschaut oder mit mir gesprochen. Ich will nicht behaupten, dass alle Mitarbeiter wie sie sind ( der junge Mann, der mich vor der Nacht geprüft hat, war freundlich), aber ich würde gern wetten, dass sie anderen grausam war, seit sie bei mir war, bevor ich ihr sogar ein Wort gesagt hatte. Was das 2-Schlüsselsystem betrifft, so mag ich die zusätzliche Sicherheit (wird mir gewundert, ob es in der Vergangenheit Probleme gab?), aber es wurde ein Problem, wenn der Außentürschlüssel kämpfen würde zu arbeiten. Ich musste es mehrere Male spielen und drehen. Das Zimmer selbst war mittelschwer, aber sicherlich nicht ein Ort, wo ich gerne wieder bleiben möchte.

Alle waren sehr nett. Das Hotel war sauber. Einchecken war einfach. Die Lage war direkt am Autobahn und in der Nähe von vielen Ketteladen (Ziel, TJ Maxx, Alte Marine, Bed, Bad, und Beyond), Restaurants und einem Gemüsegeschäft. Es gab ein kostenloses Griff-und-go Frühstück (Muffins, Oatmeal, Yoghurt, Saft, Kaffee). Ich hatte nur ein Problem. Ich bin allergisch gegen Federn. Es waren 6 Federn in unserem Zimmer, alle waren Federn. Ich rief auf den Vordertisch und bat um einen anderen Federn. Sie sagten, sie müssten prüfen, ob sie andere Federn hatten. Ein paar Minuten später war eine sehr nette Person von Hauspflege bei meiner Tür, die mir einen anderen Kissen ...., der auch ein Kissen war. Wir schlossen uns, neue Kissen für unseren Aufenthalt zu kaufen.
