Went to Gijon for a friend's wedding in the off season. I can see how the place would be popular in the summer season, but not much going on otherwise. The hotel is in a prime location though - right next to the beach and downtown. We booked through a website called hotel club - for convenience as my friend had used it. The desription was nothing like reality - they clearly said there was an indoor swimming pool. Wasn't expecting much, but the description is clearly for another hotel, as this is a small old hotel with locals in the coffee shop in the front. The rooms are pretty pokey and some of the walls are a bit paper thin, but they've made a precent decent crack at fixing it up to make it look a bit more modern by adding some pop art prints and theming each room with a famous person. Probably quite good value for the location and the standard.

Absolut schönes Hotel! Der Eingang und Deco hat eine klassische Eleganz und Stil. Das Personal war großartig! freundlich und sehr aufmerksam. Die Meerblicke vom Zimmerfenster waren erstaunlich, was eine Freude zu wachen! Der Strand war vor ... nur über die Straße. Gijón ist ein Ort, an dem ich zurückkehren möchte und ich werde hier ohne Zweifel wieder bleiben!

This was my third visit to Gijon, and it won't be my last. A short 1 3/4 hour flight from Gatwick with Vueling, and a 1/2 hour taxi ride from OVD (Asturias) Airport and I was in town. The hotel reception staff were attentive from check-in to check-out, even helping out with a minor injury! The hotel room was spotless, with plenty of storage space, writing desk and a comfy bed. The ensuite was A1, with excellent shower and other accessories including a hairdryer and even a bidet (unused...!). The continental breakfast was fine and as expected, delicious coffee!! Gijon is not a large town but offers plenty. The expansive San Lorenso beach front with a huge promenade, makes an ideal surf beach which isn't ideal for small children, but behind the bay is another beach, near the marina, which is ideal for younger families. The restaurants, oh the restaurants... I ate two large meals a day and never at the same restaurant twice, all very reasonably priced one clear recommendation is the Fabada, a basic meal comprising of beans, with chorizo and pork (or clam), with flavours you'll never have enjoyed before! Buenas vacaciones y gracias Gijon!

Sehr gute Preis-Qualitäts-Beziehung. Ausgewöhnliche Behandlung. Wir wurden von Zimmern geändert, weil die Heizung nicht reguliert werden konnte und wir alle Arten von Aufmerksamkeit, um uns acht zu treffen. Super sauber und sehr zentral. Wir empfehlen es.

I had a terrible experience in this so-called three stars hotel, the worst I ever had while travelling. Leaving aside the smell of the curtains, the humidity, the noise from outside, no reception at night, and other details, I want to tell you what happened to me there. I came to Europe for five weeks to visit different countries. A couple of cities with friends and others on my own, which was the case in Gijón. I had made a two-night reservation in Alda Pasaje but ended up leaving early because of what I would describe as a traumatic event. On the morning of the 20th, I was awakened by a knocking on my door. When I asked who it was, they answered me ”police”. Not understanding, I asked what happened and they told me to open the door unkindly. The door had no peephole so I couldn't see who was outside. When I opened the door, I found two men in private clothes, one of whom can only be identified with a badge. They asked me for my document and I gave them my passport. They asked me several questions about when and how I arrived in Spain, both checking the stamps on my passport. I asked them what happened but they didn't give me any explanation. Seeing that what I answered matched the seals, they left. It was a very unpleasant situation, I was alone and I didn't really know if they were the police or what was going on. No one from the hotel went up with them. When I went down to reception to ask for an explanation, the woman there downplayed it, telling me that it was normal for that to happen. I have travelled through Europe before and this is the third time I have come to Spain, and I have never experienced a similar situation, nor do I know anyone who has experienced something similar. I was so traumatized that I was not able to complete my stay. I didn’t feel safe there anymore. The hotel did not refund me anything, they did not even apologize. In fact, the lady acted offended and didn't even look at me when checking out. I believe that this hotel is not up to the standards of a three stars hotel. In this world, if you are a woman on your own 10.000 kms away from home, you can understand how scary can be that two men show up at your door without notice, without uniform and with no reason to be there, asking questions and not answering any. There are better places to stay than this one for sure, DO NOT STAY THERE!

Ich empfehle dieses Hotel jedem. Angenehmer Service, Sauberkeit, gutes Frühstück, Lage nahe der Promenade, dem Busbahnhof und dem Stadtzentrum. Besonderer Dank geht an das Personal an der Rezeption. Wir wurden früher als geplant bewohnt. Vor dem Abflug wurde um 6 Uhr morgens das Frühstück serviert. Ich möchte eine kompetente Marketing- und flexible Preispolitik erwähnen. Wir waren sehr zufrieden.

Das Hotel liegt mitten im Zentrum der Altstadt. Ein paar Minuten und man ist am Strand und beim Busbahnhof. Das Personal ist sehr freundlich. Mein Zimmer war gross, modern eingerichtet und sehr sauber. Die Qualität der Betten ist hervorragend. Der abgerissene Duchtungsgummi in der Dusche müsste ersetzt werden. Was aus meiner Sicht gar nicht geht ist, in der Dusche neben dem Wasserauslauf, ein aus der Wand ragendes Stromkabel. Auch wenn dieses mit Klebeband angeklebt wurde und es hoffentlich vom Strom abgetrennt wurde (habe es nicht getestet…) hinterlässt diese Installation einen mulmigen Eindruck. Schade für ein Hotel dieser Klasse
