My recent visit to the Gstaad Palace was full of anticipation, looking forward to enjoying lunch while admiring the views. However, an unexpected incident overshadowed this pleasant moment. As I left the restaurant, I was confronted by a policeman, who claimed that the hotel had accused me of theft, based simply on my youthful appearance and single status. Shortly after the incident, I received a phone call and email from management expressing their sincere apologies. Their proactive approach in contacting me personally, acknowledging the mistake and expressing sincere remorse was both unexpected and much appreciated. Despite their apology, the experience was truly unpleasant. I appreciate their acknowledgement and their efforts to rectify the situation, but it's important to stress that it was a difficult situation to live through. I sincerely hope that such situations will be rare in the future, and that steps will be taken to avoid similar misunderstandings. However, knowing that the Gstaad Palace is committed to resolving problems with humility offers reassurance for future visits. In summary, my experience at Gstaad Palace was not defined solely by the incident, but rather by the care and dedication shown by management in its aftermath.

We stayed for 2 nights in mid-May 2023. The hotel is just a five to seven minute walk from the Saanan Train Station and one station before Gstaad, if you come from Geneva, as we did. We reached around 9 pm in the evening and were allotted room 21, which is the room with the balcony on the 2nd floor; ( you will notice from the hotel photo), is perhaps one of the best rooms, being a corner room with balcony and lovely views. The dinner was just a vegan burger and a salad. Adequate. The bedrooms were entirely timbered, comfortable with sufficient storage and in-room heating from a radiator, placed under the front window. Toilet was a bit small and no bathroom slippers were provided. We requested but was told as it was a 3 star property, hence they did not provide it. Breakfast was the usual continental, with the hot items being only boiled eggs and choice of coffee/tea. Rest was cold meat, fruit, cereals, cheese and bread. Not the best which we have had, but acceptable. A few more hot choices especially in the eggs choice or sausages would have helped. There was only 1 lady who was looking after the breakfast area, the restaurant and the reception. Perhaps, because of low occupancy. However, what I wish to compliment the hotel staff about, was their help and co-operation in forwarding some clothes which we had mistakenly left behind. We connected with the hotel the very evening after we left and they confirmed that they had them. Their cost was not much but they had an emotional connect with us. We asked them to keep them with them till we could decide the way forward. As luck would have it, some family members are visiting Switzerland at the time of writing this review (in early July 2023) and staying for a few days in Bern. The staff, on our request, packed and sent the stuff to the Bern hotel after coordinating with the Bern hotel, on phone. They never asked us for any payment though we were willing to pay for it. This is outstanding customer service.

Das Personal ist top. Der Beweis für die super Atmosphäre im Hotel liefert die Dame aus dem Service (Name leider vergessen), welche seit 24 Jahren dort arbeitet. Haben den ersten Abend im La Gare gegessen. Sehr feines Essen begleitet durch einen perfekten Service. Die gleiche Erfahrung durften wir im Blun Chi, abends darauf machen. Beim Essen wird grösstmöglich darauf geachtet, dass man die Produzenten aus der (auch weiteren) Umgebung berücksichtigt. Und übrigens die Zimmer (Panoramic) sind sehr geräumig und rustikal, mit modernen Elementen ausgestattet. Wir werden wieder kommen.

Wir (14 Personen/3 Generationen) haben bereits zum zweiten Mal dieses Arrangement gebucht. Auch diesmal hat alles bestens geklappt, und wir waren mehr als zufrieden. Alle 6 Kinder durften zusammen in einer gemütlichen Chalet Suite im Dachstock übernachten, die Eltern nebenan, sogar mit einem richtigen Cheminée. Das war ein Fest! Das Nachtessen im Restaurant hat (auch verwöhnten Feinschmeckern) herrlich gemundet. Sauberkeit top, Personal äusserst freundlich und zuvorkommend! 4 Fondue-Rucksäcke (im Preis inbegriffen) und herrliches Wetter haben unseren Aufenthalt perfekt gemacht. Hier ist der Gast noch König. Wir kommen gerne wieder!!!

Das Paar, das das Chalet besitzt und vermietet, ist unglaublich. Wirklich handvoll und glückliche Menschen. Ich habe mich wirklich wie zu Hause gefühlt, da es ein kleiner Hausgast ist. Tolle Aussicht und ganz in der Nähe der Stadt! Ich werde auf jeden Fall wiederkommen und kann es nur wärmstens empfehlen!!!

Gstaad ist natürlich ein In-Place und daher zehren viele Hotels von diesem Renommée, ohne die Extra-Meile zu gehen. So auch das Grand Bellevue. Sehr positiv war der Empfang mit heisser Schokolade und Cookies und der Direktor, der uns als Gäste persönlich willkommen hiess. Das Zimmer konnten wir vor der Check-In-Zeit beziehen, was nicht selbstverständlich ist. Die Einrichtung des Zimmers liess fast nichts zu wünschen übrig - einzig könnten über dem Nachttisch Steckdosen für Handy-Ladegeräte und evtl. noch USB-Ports angebracht werden. Und ein paar frische Früchte am Ankunftstag wären wohl auch nicht zu viel des Guten. Der Skiraum war allerdings eine Katastrophe - alt und heruntergekommen und ohne individuelle Schränke. Gestört hat uns bezüglich Service an der Bar und im Restaurant, dass praktisch niemand vom Staff Deutsch sprach, sondern wir je nach Person einmal Englisch und einmal Französisch sprechen mussten. Das Abendessen war ausgezeichnet, nicht jedoch das Frühstück, das - sowohl bezüglich Qualität als auch Vielfalt der Speisen - meilenweit hinter Hotels wie dem Badrutt oder dem Kulm St. Moritz nachhinkt. Sehr positiv möchten wir jedoch den Service durch die frisch-fröhliche Giorgia erwähnen. Auch der langjährige Concierge Olivier bot einen Service, wie man sich ihn nur träumen kann. Das Preis-/Leistungsverhältnis ist bezüglich der Logement-Preise völlig in Ordnung, nicht jedoch bezüglich der Getränke - ein Apérol Spritz für Fr. 26.- haben wir als 5*-Reisende wirklich noch nie erlebt. Das Grand Bellevue ist sicher eines der besten Hotels am Platz - aber es ruht sich wohl etwas auf seinen Lorbeeren aus und ist wie gesagt nicht bereit, die Extra-Meile zu gehen.

Das Hotel Huus in Saanen ist ein wirklich sehr schönes Hotel. Die Ausstattung ist modern und sehr gut ausgewählt. Das Zimmer und vorallem die Aussicht hat uns absolut gefallen. Wir fühlten uns wie zu Hause in der Schweiz. Das Gefühl von ‚zu Hause‘ will einem das Hotel Huus auch vermitteln, leider sind die Mitarbeiter nicht in der Lage dies unzusetzen. Es entäuschte uns sehr, dass wir als Schweizer in unserem Land nicht in CH-Deutsch oder zumindest in Hochdeutsch etwas bestellen konnten. Fast alle Angestellten waren dem Deutsch nicht mächtig. Auch kein ‚Grüezi’ oder so… Wenn ich ins Berneroberland gehe, will ich mich nicht wie im Ausland fühlen! Die lapidare Antwort der Rezeptionistin, dass man in Spanien auch kein Deutsch spricht ist ein Witz. Wenn ich nach Spanien in die Ferien gehe, erwarte ich auch, dass ich meinen bescheidenen Spanischwortschatz anwenden kann. Wir haben dann am zweiten Abend in einem anderen Hotel gegessen und wurden von der Schweizer Gastfreundlichkeit, kombiniert mit italienischem Charme, verwöhnt. Wenn ich Englisch sprechen will gehe ich zukünftig ins Ausland aber nicht mehr ins Hotel Huus.
