Spagna Rom|1.94km vom StadtzentrumWe stayed at the De Russie in July, about one month after the hotel had re-opened after the lockdown. Not many rooms seemed to be booked, so that the atmosphere was very quiet and special. The staff was genuinely friendly and attentive, and we just love the beautiful bar in the courtyard, where many locals had an aperitivo before heading to dinner. To our delight, we discovered that the hotel now has two "official" hotel cats - just a detail, but one that makes the hotel even more likeable. Many thanks to the friendly and motivated De Russie team for making our stay so very special. We will be happy to return next year. One general remark on the "Covid" situation: Many of our friends expressed their surprise when we told them we would travel to Rome this summer. But in our view, now is the perfect time - we have never seen the city so empty, and we have never enjoyed our visits to the Vatican Museums, the Forum, the Colosseum and the Galleria Borghese, just to name some of the top sights, so much. Everything is empty, there was not even a line at the entrance to the Vatican Museums, and in every restaurant, shop or bar, the service is great. Social distancing was strictly observed, and temperature scanners are used virtually everywhere - we felt safe during our entire stay (actually, safer than here in Germany). We would definitely travel to Rome - and stay at the De Russie - again if we had to decide again.
