Dhaka|1.92km vom StadtzentrumIf the General Manager is reading reviews he needs to do something about Splash Bar. I have stayed at the Westin three times since the beginning of February and really like the hotel. Unfortunately the Splash Bar falls short each time. One night we visited for drinks and dinner and the Head waiter totally ignored us the entire evening never even looking our way. He grovelled and simpered over a table of local business men who were exrremely demanding. We had to call out to other waiters for any limited service we required. But this past stay was even worse. The first day around the pool we wanted to order drinks and lunch. Wet from the pool we waited outside hoping someone would come. No. So i went in and asked someone to bring menus. TEN minutes later they brought them. Today same thing but the girl even mixed up the order after repeating it back to us. 2 different fruit juices and one burger ordered but two of the same juices arrived while we were in the pool. When she brought the burger I said it was 2 different juices and she laughed and said 'oh sorry' and walked away. Both staff were sitting reading their phones the entire time and quickly jumped to attention. After the food was brought they never returned to clear away or to ask if we wanted anything else. This is 2 star service. We had again to go in to them and ask for the bill. The bar inside was empty the entire time. Compared to the outstanding service from Regan and his team in the other bar it is chalk and cheese. The check in staff are wonderful as are the breakfast staff. Regan, like 5 star bartenders should, remembers your drink, watches if you are cold and even brings a wrap to wear. He turns down the music if he sees we want to talk, he observes but never intrudes. He needs to teach the Splash staff. As members and staying on the club floor we usually go to the club floor for drinks and snacks. Here is the other weakness at the Westin. Last night up to three different patrons complained of the sameness in a polite respectful way. One couple were vegetarian and could only eat one type of pizza and the soup. Others mentioned the similar style of dishes, cheeses etc. It needs a really good shake up for business people like all of us last night staying up to four nights for some and seeing the same thing. The Westin ticks nearly all the boxes except for these two. Location, cleanliness, Covid safe, service, food and the rooms are all wonderful. With new five star hotels being built in Dhaka close to the Westin they need to look at the above to maintain their edge.
