What a find, with both the gorgeous town of Paterson, and the lovely, historic Paterson Lodge. My husband and I were on a ”business” trip from WA so stayed 4 nights in this grand old, but beautifully restored building. Our hosts made us feel incredibly welcome; even inviting us to join their family group at the Christmas Carol's Night, and offering to pack an early breakfast when we had to leave early one day for a meeting. They were both up for a chat, as were we, but never intrusive. They were just lovely, warm people. The rooms were gorgeous: spacious, very clean, well appointed, and each had, what appeared to be, functional fire places. All rooms had their private ensuite and an air conditioner.... much needed in the first couple of days when one temperature peaked at 39 degrees. Our bathroom was clean, bright and cheery.... well renovated. A wide, upstairs balcony, providing different perspectives of the town, from scenic paddocks to the local shops, was one of our favourite places to sit late afternoon after work, and enjoy a revitalising G&T (a few actually). Despite The Lodge having 6 bedrooms, with other guests initially staying there (we were the last to leave before the Christmas break), the place felt very homely and we had access to all areas, other than rooms already booked, obviously. Our hosts were very happy for us to enjoy the property, and it's vantage point overlooking the town's activity. The cafe was a lovely place to be, and we enjoyed both the Full and Continental breakfasts during our stay. Take your appetite! Locals seemed to like the cafe as a meeting place from Friday to Sunday, inclusive, as well. If we return to this part of the country, we will definitely try and stay here again. I was very sad to leave this lovely, historic building, its delightful owners and this extremely friendly town.
