Cowes Apartments

We stayed for 3 nights in July to visit the penguin parade. Overall it was fairly good value, but it really is a motel. On check in I was advised the restaurant and bar isn’t open at all today….on a Sunday, in school holidays! This was very disappointing. The location is great - the beach is just down the end of the road, and the main streets of town about 5 mins drive away. There’s a small kids playground on site - better suited for younger kids I’d say 3 and under, and another bigger one at the end of the street overlooking the beach….for all ages. Their website advertises a jumping pillow, which my kids were excited about - but it’s been dismantled - so heads up to any who also see that on the website…it’s no longer operating. We went for a walk to the beach - though never found it! We walked about 5 mins to the end of the property and came to a door that led to a promenade, that was not even beach front - but we couldn’t get back through it if we walked out (luckily I checked as would have been stranded a long walk around otherwise!!). The best part about the “resort” was the hot spa. It’s 35-38 degrees….and absolute heaven. It’s also under cover, so we had no idea it was raining when we were in there! BUT - something they didn’t tell me on check in, nor is it in the guest information folder - you have to request they turn it on so it’s hot when you want it. We were lucky in day 1 and 2, but on our last day it wasn’t hot when we went in. It took about an hour to heat up, not too bad - but very important information they do not make known. We all had a shower in the evening and our bathroom literally flooded. I had to use multiple towels to mop up the water and make it safe, so my small children didn’t slip over. I couldn’t call for more towels or assistance as reception had closed. This was a problem every day, there was clearly a drainage issue in our unit - I called the Manager in on the last day and he took videos and acknowledged there was a problem. They were great to offer plenty of towels, and brought some protein balls as treats for the kids. We had a 2 bedroom motel room, which was a good size with a kitchenette. Though another flaw is that there’s no instructions for how to use the convection cooktop. They provide a guest folder with instructions for WiFi and AC and lots of other info - but nothing on the cooktop (or the spa bookings!). I tried for 10 mins, reception was closed, but then googled it and got it working. It was a real frustration at that time of the evening after a long day.

Checked in late for an overnight stay, and it was brilliant. Lovely rooms, well appointed and clean, excellent location, with views of the bay. Friendly check in staff. Dinner and drinks at the hotel was great, good range, excellent venue and fantastic food. Plenty of off street parking for the Harley, but not a fan of gravel carparks. Great place to stay.

Beautiful accommodation in quiet area of Cowes. Great location for seeing different places on Phillip Island. The accommodation was clean and very comfortable. The only negative was the tap in the kitchen sink is far too long and makes it awkward to fill the kettle. The gardens were beautiful with a lovely water feature. Seating options inside and outside the apartment on private decking. Just wish we had been able to stay longer.

Rein und geräumig Zimmer im Herzen von Essen und Einkaufsmöglichkeiten. Ich mag es, dass das Zimmer mit einem Mikrowelle, Kühlschrank, Kessel und Herd mit Kelter, Pansen, Kleiderschrank und Kochgeräten ausgestattet ist. Parkplatz ist gerade außerhalb der Einheit, die leichte Ladung und Entladen von Gepäck ermöglicht. Wir hatten einen komfortablen Aufenthalt. Wenn Sie zu spät checken (6pm und nach) rufen Sie sie, so dass sie die Schlüssel hinter Ihnen verlassen können. Es gibt Heizung, wenn es zu kalt wird.

Die Innenausstattung ist komplett, es ist komfortabel und der Parkplatz am Zimmerportal ist sehr bequem. Es gibt weniger als 10 Minuten zu Fuß zum Hafenstrand und in der Nähe gibt es zwei große Supermärkte. Der Austritt kann die Würfel in den Rezeptorschrank gelegt werden, wenn Sie verlassen können. Die alte Dame hat eine sehr gute Service-Einstellung, ein Geschäft, das empfohlen werden sollte 👍

In its class this motel is spotless, clean, spacious and organized well to help you have a comfortable stay. I especially appreciated the dressing room just outside the bathroom with a shelf to put your luggage on and a full length mirror. There is lots of storage space. There was another mirror in the room and a nice sitting area. we did not try the pool. The beach is just a block up the road. Also within walking distance to a café and grocery store. We enjoyed our stay here and would stay again.

Unfortunately, it was not the relaxing getaway my fiancée and I thought it would be. We're not very hard to please and are happy to stay mostly anywhere as long as there's a comfy bed and quiet. We stayed two nights in the garden villa which was the most premium and expensive room on offer, expecting a secluded and private area to ourselves, which for the most part is what we got. Visually, the garden surrounding the villa is stunning with a delightful view of greenery and nature, and there is no one else who stays in that area behind the main building. The room itself was eclectic in decor which was a welcome change to stay somewhere with unique tastes as opposed to the usual and generic designs of modern accommodation. The spa in the room was great and worked very well, it was warm and the jets were functioning fine. However, we had the horrible luck of staying on two nights where there was a family, with children, staying directly above us. The ceiling feels like it's paper thin and you can hear every footstep that people are taking above, specifically when they walk down the hallway to use the bathroom (yes you can tell their movements due to the 10 - 12 steps they take followed soon after by the sound of a toilet flushing and then another 10 - 12 steps and someone going down stairs). This would usually be semi-bearable, as the occasional sound of someone walking back and forth is still annoying, but fine. But as mentioned earlier, there were children staying up there and they insisted on running back and forth down that hallway so many times throughout the day, and especially the early morning, that it became extremely frustrating to hear. I tried to take an afternoon nap when we arrived after being so exhausted from the travel and was woken up by the sound of thumping footsteps running back and forth. As these two nights were supposed to be our little getaway from our own kids, and a chance for us to have a relaxing sleep in, we wanted to nip this problem in the bud immediately. We reported the noise to the proprietor Jenni on the first night, Jenni was very friendly and assured us that she would speak to the family about the kids' running around. We later spoke over the phone again to the other proprietor, Harley who was also very friendly (and characteristically humourous) about the situation, reassuring us that the family had been spoken to. Harley also mentioned that the family was in fact, their own family visiting from the UK (as this site also appears to be the actual residence of the two proprietors). I am unsure of the logistics of this situation, but personally, I believe that having your own family members stay at the location, but cause disruption to the paying customers, is an unfair and detrimental business decision.
